The Sustainable Shrimp Partnership (SSP) celebrates seven years of #sustainability efforts in #Ecuador. ???????? ?? The initiative brings together #Ecuadorian #shrimp #producers committed to demonstrating that quality, competitiveness, and responsible practices are not mutually exclusive. ?? The consolidation of SSP #certification, the creation of the Sustainability #Leadership Roundtable, the inclusion of small and medium-sized stakeholders in sustainability efforts, and the promotion of #consumer #awareness are the four main milestones with which the organization has managed to scale sustainability in the Ecuadorian shrimp industry. ??? "SSP has matured as an organization, establishing itself as a pre-competitive ecosystem that promotes sustainability beyond its own producers. This evolution has been the result of a permanent commitment to progress and innovation. As SSP has grown, so have its strategies, initiatives, and the reach of its impact," Pamela Nath, #SSP Director. ???? More info ?? https://lnkd.in/dy2Nsbjv

The Spanish Aquaculture Business Association (APROMAR), Ocean Aquaculture Global, S.L. (#OAC), and the University of Almeria (Universidad de Almería - #UAL) met at a seminar to explore #yellowtail's #aquaculture #potential in #Spain. ???????? ?? The species is focusing attention as a way for the #diversification of Spanish aquaculture, but there is still much work ahead.? ?? Among its advantageous characteristics for #fish #farming, yellowtail has a very fast growth rate in addition to being a great food converter. ?? From a #commercial point of view, it is a very versatile product that can be transformed and used in numerous recipes and has an outstanding nutrient composition. ??? "#Consumers increasingly demand more fish, and, in fact, we even have to import because we do not meet what we need, so the development of this production is very positive for everyone, both for the Administration, as for the company, as academic institutions and, after all, for consumers," Mabel Sáez Casado, coordinator of the CEI-Mar (Marine Classroom) at the University of Almeria. ??? "Work began years ago as it is a species with a great commercial interest, which has very good flavor, nutritional value, many positive characteristics, but it is still difficult to scale this #production to have sufficient volumes for future demand," Garazi Rodríguez Valle, responsible for Production and Marketing Plans and coordinator of APROMAR's innovation department. ?? Ocean Aquaculture Global, the private company participating in the seminar, is already implementing an #offshore hatchery project in Almería, Andalusia. ???? More info ?? https://lnkd.in/dQeAh7K3
