In the coming months, it's reported 1 million more Somalis will face crisis levels of food insecurity. About 460,000 children are expected to suffer "severe acute malnutrition" which is a life-threatening condition that occurs when a person does not consume enough nutrients for an extended period. ???? Worsening drought conditions have also led to widespread water shortages across Somalia. Insecurity and limited funding hinder aid delivery, and rising prices have impacted families and in Lower Juba, water costs have reached $5 per 200-litre barrel up from $2.5 in some areas. Alight supports hundreds of thousands of families in Somalia each year, providing clean water, emergency nutrition therapy, emergency food rations and health care. However, with funding at risk, these life-saving programs are also at risk. ?? Humanitarian aid isn’t optional—it’s life-saving.?? Your voice matters. Your support matters. On March 17, 1980, the Refugee Act was signed, setting the gold standard for humanitarian protection and offering hope, safety, and dignity to millions forced to flee their homes. ?? Since then, refugees have found safety, built new lives, and contributed to the strength and diversity of communities across America. The Act has stood as a beacon of hope, proving that when nations choose welcome, they choose strength. Today, as forced displacement reaches record highs, millions of people continue to seek safety and a chance to rebuild their lives. Let’s continue to stand with displaced people everywhere, fostering a world where everyone has the opportunity to rebuild, contribute, and thrive. ?? #RefugeeAct45

It makes such a meaningful difference. Thank you! ???? #FindOthers

?? What happens when humanitarian programs disappear? On the Thai-Myanmar border, malaria services are collapsing. Rapid diagnostic tests, treatments, and mosquito nets are no longer being distributed. The referral system for urgent care is shutting down, leaving critically ill patients with nowhere to turn. While no confirmed child deaths have been reported yet, it’s only a matter of time. When programs disappear, lives are at risk. Humanitarian aid isn’t optional—it’s life-saving. ?? ?Although joy may feel harder to come by these days, we believe we all have a profound responsibility to continue to show up and create things that will get us there. Today at #SXSW, Alight's Director of Marketing & Communications, Joyce Kim, was honored to be joined by artists and changemakers Joel Bergner, Ronald Rael, and Aaron Huey. Through their art, they have been at the forefront of narrative change, challenging dehumanizing stereotypes and uplifting the joy and abundance that are core to our humanity. ??The conversation explored innovative campaigns and projects where art was used as a catalyst for impact and action in support of displaced communities. One of the panelists closed the panel by reminding the audience of a poem that says, "They tried to bury us, they didn't know we were seeds." Grateful to the team at SXSW for providing a platform to share these stories and spark meaningful connections. For artists, storytellers and creators interested in collaborating, please reach out to ?? [email protected].

?? This is a tough moment. Right now, many of our lifesaving programs are paused or scaled back. We haven’t yet had to leave any of the countries where we work, but we’ve had to close critical programs—like protection services for women and children fleeing violence and lifesaving health programs for malaria in Myanmar. ?? But we’re not standing still. We’re adapting, pushing forward, and finding new ways to show up for displaced families. With your support, we can keep going. ??

Today, we join the world in celebrating International Women’s Day! ?? At Alight, we believe in being human-centered, choosing optimism, and doing the doable—especially in challenging times. As we navigate uncertainty, we honor the resilience and contributions of women across our teams and communities. Today, 60 million women worldwide are displaced—yet they are often the first to organize and support their families. They reinvest 90% of their income back into their communities, proving that when women thrive, everyone benefits. ? This day is a moment to reflect, uplift, and support one another. ?? Every action matters: Celebrate the women around you, reflect on how to build a more inclusive world, and commit to small steps that drive progress. Consider donating to Alight’s Emergency Fund today to ensure our work supporting women continues. ?? https://lnkd.in/eA7a_C98 #InternationalWomensDay #StandWithWomen #Alight

??What happens when humanitarian programs disappear? In South Sudan, our work protecting women and children from violence was forced to stop in four locations. One of the most heartbreaking cases we’ve seen is in Ulang, where a women and girls’ safe space was forced to close due to funding cuts. A mother of two, Nyamal, had fled her abusive husband and arrived at the shelter with nothing but the clothes on her back—only to be told it was no longer operating. With nowhere else to go, she had to return to him. ?? When programs disappear, lives are put at risk. Humanitarian aid isn’t optional—it’s life-saving. ?? Your voice matters. Your support matters. Donate today and stand with those who need us now more than ever. Alight’s Emergency Fund: bit.ly/AlightEmergency #Alight #AlightSouthSudan

Our work in Ukraine is far from over. Three years after Ukraine was invaded, 6.8 million Ukrainians still face the harsh realities of war. Both those who remain inside the country and those who have left their homes continue to need humanitarian assistance. From the very start of the crisis, Alight has been there, doing the doable—providing emergency supplies and shelter, partnering with hundreds of local Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and launching mental health and community integration programs for Ukrainians in Poland. Together, we can continue to bring light in the darkest of times. Regardless of changes in policies and support, everyday people can help everyday Ukrainians. ???? ??
