?? The war has left an estimated 40% of Ukraine's population in need of humanitarian assistance, with millions living in frontline communities. In Kharkiv—Ukraine's second-largest city, just 30 km from the Russian border—internally displaced persons face immense challenges. For many, staying put is the default choice, even as violence escalates. Some eventually flee, but it’s often a last-minute decision made after exhausting all resources. Tragically, many never leave at all. ?? Alight's Europe Enterprise team recently released a report highlighting the challenges and opportunities in Kharkiv, providing insights into the journey of displacement and critical recommendations to support displaced Ukrainian communities. A stable, secure place to call home is essential for feeling whole. In Uganda’s Bidibidi refugee camp, Alight and Every Shelter created Shelter Depot, a DIY home improvement store where displaced families can access affordable tools, solar panels, stoves, and more. ?? With a work-for-credit program, customers with limited financial means can still create homes they’re proud of. ?? For those who have lost so much, this isn’t just about rebuilding—it’s about restoring dignity and the peace of home. ? The peace of house & home—that’s #WhatReallyMatters
