Families who have a teen or young adult with an intellectual or developmental disability require transition planning support that is more customized than what is currently offered. We're moving quickly to serve their needs through a novel approach. #Disability #Families #Planning #RaleighDurham #NorthCarolina #Tools #Resources #Individualized #Customized #BlueOcean #Strategy #Mindset #Approach #Assumptions #Perspective #Methods

Helping families of children with disabilities thrive in community
关于我们
When we began our journey to serve other families, we did not have a child of our own (out of eight from a blended family) or a grandchild with a disability. As of Friday, December 30, 2022, we do! We Will Walk With You has been established to meet families of children with developmental delays where they are, help them find a clear path forward, and walk with them along their paths. Initially, we will serve families in and around Wake County, North Carolina.

Our Executive Director shared the need. Please consider supporting our work. Year-end gifts (Giving Tuesday is tomorrow!) are much appreciated. Ongoing support even more so! Thanks!
This year, we have seen remarkable family engagement through our programs at We Will Walk With You. These successes are only possible because of the support we receive from dedicated individuals like you. Teens and young adults with disabilities face significant challenges: ? ·??????About 67% of students with disabilities graduate high school (vs. 89% non-disabled) ·??????Only 36% of our young adults have jobs 2 years after high school (vs. 70%) By supporting programs that empower these students and their parents/caregivers, we can help bridge this gap and pave the way for better post-secondary quality of life for everyone involved! Over 70% of parents report feeling overwhelmed by their responsibilities. Almost 50% experience anxiety or depression which impacts their overall quality of life. We provide practical resources and a compassionate community where they can share experiences and find encouragement. To serve existing and new families, we need your help. This means increasing our staffing resources, introducing more programs, and expanding our outreach efforts. You can make your donation by sending a check to the address below, making a Venmo payment (https://bit.ly/Venmo-WWWWY), or paying through PayPal (https://lnkd.in/egKGZxmz). $50** purchases a week of groceries for our adaptive cooking program. $100** pays for 5 hours of a program coordinator’s time. $500** supports the creation of 10 recurring volunteer roles at a nonprofit host site. Thank you for being a part of our journey and for considering this opportunity to give back. Together, we can continue to create positive change and empower individuals to achieve their goals!

We would love to have you join us as a volunteer for our Adaptive Cooking Class in Durham! We gather most Tuesdays (except 1st Tues.) to explore kitchen skills for adults with autism or a disability. We need three volunteers each time. Here's the link for tomorrow's volunteer sign up: https://lnkd.in/e-FKCMyh
