On International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day, we stand beside those who have experienced the loss of a loved one to suicide. No one should have to face this fight alone. Together, we can foster hope, understanding, and compassion for those affected by suicide loss. Here at Face the Fight, we are working to combat veteran suicide and dismantle the stigma behind seeking help. Let’s continue to raise awareness and make a meaningful impact in our communities. ?? “We have this ethic [in the military] that we leave no one behind,” Patrick J. Murphy, honorary committee chair of Face the Fight, told FOX 5 DC. “We left too many of our brothers and sisters behind, especially when it comes to mental health.” Face the Fight is committed to reducing veteran suicide and breaking the stigma around getting help. It’s a common myth that there’s nothing that can be done for someone who experiences chronic suicidality. But I want people to know that’s just not true - at least it’s not true anymore. The results from our interventions at Stop Soldier Suicide should give them a reason to feel hope. With 73% of our veterans experiencing a decrease in suicidal cognition after working with us, we’re proving that chronic suicidality is treatable. Through targeted, evidence-based interventions - carefully chosen methods proven by research - we give veterans the tools to regain control over their lives and improve their mental health long-term. Our approach centers on three core interventions: Crisis Response Planning, CAMS (Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality), and BCBT-SP (Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Suicide Prevention). Crisis Response Planning equips 100% of our high and moderate-risk clients with personalized plans to recognize triggers and develop safety strategies in response to these triggers. These individualized plans help our clients face high-risk moments with strength and preparedness. CAMS and BCBT-SP both use cognitive behavioral techniques to help veterans identify and reframe harmful thought patterns. Through these methods, veterans draw on their own reservoirs of strength to build up even more resilience in the face of challenging situations and use effective coping skills instead of falling into hopelessness. Imagine a world where veterans no longer face chronic suicidality alone - a world where they have tools, support, and renewed confidence to reclaim their lives. With each life we change, we move closer to this reality, showing veterans that a fulfilling future is within reach. At Stop Soldier Suicide, we’re redefining what it means to support veterans in their most challenging battles. Every service member deserves effective, proven solutions - and we’re here to provide them. #veteransuicide #suicideprevention #crisisresponse

Thank you, Bexar County, for celebrating Veterans Day by recognizing?Face The Fight?and the collective mission of?USAA,?Reach Resilience, and Humana Foundation,?and our coalition of 200+ strong to end veteran suicide and advance awareness and support for our military community. My favorite line of the proclamation declared today: “It is the collective duty of Texans to honor the sacrifices made by our veterans and ensure they receive the support they need.”
