We had an inspiring week at the American Association of Tissue Banks Annual Meeting in Aurora, CO! From thought-provoking sessions to meaningful conversations, SHSC was proud to be part of it all. Looking forward to our team bringing these insights back home to keep advancing tissue donation and transplantation!#AATB2024

SHSC's first-ever simulation lab was a success! Our Family Services Coordinators (FSC) participated in clinical scenarios, honing their communication skills with healthcare teams and families. With the help of our amazing office staff as actors, the FSCs were evaluated and given valuable feedback to enhance their abilities and confidence in the field. The enthusiasm and dedication of our team made the day a huge success, thank you to everyone who participated! We can't wait for the next sim lab! #ShareHope #SimLab #Training #DonateLife

Today, our team came together in our Charleston space for an all-staff meeting that truly embodied our mission. We were moved by stories of advocacy shared by our dedicated team members and the family of donor hero Dylan. The theme of the meeting, “If not us, then who?”, resonated deeply as we reflected on our role in advocating for the gift of life. Dylan’s story, in particular, reminded us of the profound impact of the work we do. Through donation, Dylan was able to save five lives and provide hope to his family that his legacy lives on during their darkest hours. We left rejuvenated and committed to serving our community, honoring donor heroes and caring for their families. Let’s continue to protect the gift of life and inspire others to do the same.

This week, We Are Sharing Hope SC proudly attended the 32nd Annual ASSOCIATION FOR MULTICULTURAL AFFAIRS IN TRANSPLANTATION Conference in San Diego. The theme, "Empower, Engage, Elevate: Fostering an Inclusive Donation and Transplantation Community," was a great learning experience for advancing our professional expertise to better empower the communities we serve. SHSC was honored to deliver two presentations at this year's conference. SHSC Family Support Services Educator Lilliana Amador shared how to overcome obstacles with the Hispanic Communities and SHSC Director of Tissue Recovery Services, Michael Palmisano presented on promoting diversity in research and innovation in tissue banking. Reflecting on the experience, Michael shared: "It was inspiring to connect with thought leaders and change-makers dedicated to transforming healthcare and donation. The conversation on diversity and inclusion is critical for driving innovation and ensuring that every voice is heard and valued." We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to these vital discussions, learn from our peers and advocate for a more inclusive and equitable future in donation and transplantation. #AMAT2024#AATB#DiversityAndInclusion#Innovation#Leadership#ShareHope

Day 3 of the CREST Conference was packed with impactful sessions and engaging activities led by the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR), Cascade Life Alliance , LifeNet Health, New England Donor Services, MUSC Health, Indiana Donor Network, CGI, Donor Network West, Donor Alliance and our very own Joe Spitz! We wrapped up the day with an exciting live-action hack-a-thon, where participants put their newly acquired skills to the test. The past three days have been invaluable. We have learned so much and are beyond grateful to have been part of an experience that brought us together to share knowledge and advance our mission of saving lives through organ, eye and tissue donation. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made this conference a success! #CRESTConference #OPOData #ShareHope #donatelife
