March is Women’s History Month, a time to honor the contributions of women who have shaped our world. This year, celebrating Women’s History Month feels more important than ever. Executive Orders are reshaping women’s lives in countless ways—from limiting access to economic mobility and banning trans women in sports to global women’s health initiatives—but women are fighting back. A recent TIME article highlights those refusing to participate in the Trump economy, choosing action over acceptance. The challenges are real, but so is the progress—built by the resilience and activism of those who refuse to back down. Honoring the perseverance and achievements of women—past and present—reminds us that our voices shape the push for a more equitable world. We’re fortunate to work alongside clients who champion reproductive justice, economic mobility, and gender equity every day. Their work, along with the legacy of those who fought before them, proves that progress is hard-won, but never impossible. Who are the women inspiring you right now? Drop their names (or their work) in the comments. Let’s celebrate them together. Read here: https://lnkd.in/g_nryQWJ #WomensHistoryMonth

“The fear never goes away, right? But, you get better at managing it and you get bolder, you realize you have people behind you, and you realize the difference you’re making…It’s okay to be afraid, but it’s not okay to do nothing.” – Lyle Matthew Kan, Interim President and CEO of Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP) READI leaders Lyle and Susan Taylor Batten, CEO of ABFE. A Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities, sat down with Katie Hong to share stories and insights on how philanthropy is navigating the administration’s efforts to dismantle diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Thank you to The Giving Practice at Philanthropy Northwest for creating a space to talk about what philanthropy is doing to advance racial equity on the ground. We are in the business of advocacy and continue to look to the social sciences to inform our approach. One of the? core persuasion principles is that our brains prioritize processing emotions more than facts. The result is that much of human decisionmaking and judgment happens at an emotional level. Let’s try a thought experiment. Would you prefer an ice cream container labeled 80% fat free or one labeled 20% fat? My guess (based on behavioral science) is you are going to pick the one labeled as fat free.?Why? Because our brains use shortcuts to be more efficient, and one very efficient shortcut is the framing effect theory (courtesy of psychologists Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversty) that tells us it’s not what we say, but how we say it that matters. Our brains prefer when things are framed in the positive. Our brains want to pick the fat free ice cream. In fact, when something is negatively framed, our brains perceive it as a loss and instinctively want to avoid it. This is why negative frames can be an effective strategy. So,? how does this relate to advocacy? Effective communicators who are focused on driving social impact know how to utilize this framing tool. Examples abound—pro-choice v. anti-choice, gun safety v. gun control, clean energy v. dirty energy, etc. Two of my favorite recent examples of framing come from work RALLY teams have done: In 2021, we started working with the Protect ICWA Campaign to prepare for an upcoming Supreme Court case – Haaland v. Brackeen. The case could have dismantled the Indian Child Welfare Act, which provides critical protections to Native kids in the child welfare system. The case was full of complex legal questions and decades of history. To bring on new supporters, we had a framing idea: expose first, explain later. Communications led with bold, emotional, sometimes provocative entry points (like the slogan “Stop Stealing Native Kids”) to inspire an emotional connection first and foremost. Legal and historical explanation–both important–followed behind the emotional on ramp. Emerging from the pandemic and national election cycle, it’s clear that climate action does not top the list of issues that people care about. Most Americans are concerned about safe streets, stable jobs, and rising costs. Recognizing this, we worked with the City Climate Partnership - made up of Climate Mayors, C40 Cities, and Urban Sustainability Directors Network- to reframe climate action as more than just an environmental issue. Now we’re cutting the jargon, defining an optimistic vision without the scary facts, and showing how climate initiatives deliver what people demand: safer streets, stronger economies, and healthier communities. By connecting climate to the core of resident’s concerns, we’re helping mayors prove that what’s good for the planet is good for our neighborhoods. What are some of your favorite examples of negative or positive frames?

???????????????? ???????? ???????? ?????? ???? ?????????????? ?????????? ??????????: Richard Glossip, an innocent man who has spent 26 years on death row, has been granted a new trial by a 5-2 decision. We’re thrilled at this outcome and are honored to have played a role in this fight for justice, alongside his pro-bono legal team, Don Knight and Meri Ellzey. We thank the Oklahoma Legislators who stood up for an innocent man in a pro-death penalty state and all the partners who fought alongside us. Thanks to Joe Berlinger and RadicalMedia who took our call and agreed to make ?????????????? ?????????????? ??????????????, the documentary series that started the ball rolling. We’re proud of the RALLYers who contributed to this effort over the years in a variety of ways—Lara Bergthold who led this case and never gave up on it, Elyse Dickson Becker, Tiffany Cho, Amy Clark, Brian Denney, Josh Okun and former RALLYers Noah Finneburgh and Amy Jasper. Your determination has made a difference. Wins are rare in the death penalty space, so we're taking a moment to celebrate and prepare for what's next.

How can the social sector show up at this moment, when the work is under attack? RALLY President Felix Schein shared three rules with the Stanford Social Innovation Review: - Own your work and your success. - Speak plainly about the stakes. - Bring people in. Ultimately – make things about people outside the political sphere and how your work benefits them. If what you say resonates, these are the very people who will come to your aid.
