The ribbon has been cut! We just don’t have any photos since our last site visit ?? The City of Gladstone recently opened its doors to a new Public Works Facility, and we are excited to see the lasting positive influence this project will have on the city and its residents. #engineering?| The Gladstone Public Works Remodel consisted of the evaluation of an existing single-story steel frame building for current code prescribed gravity and lateral loads. Improvements to the building included new wall girts on all sides of the building to allow new wall openings, strengthening of the existing roof purlins, and steel frames to support current snow load requirements and to reduce thrust at the existing column anchor bolts. Frame strengthening included new interior columns with deep foundations and grade beams to reduce steel framed reactions and stresses. Braced bays were relocated where necessary to avoid new wall openings. A new entry vestibule was added to the south end of the existing building. The interior architectural remodel included removal of the existing mezzanine and new interior walls through-out and a small mechanical mezzanine. Wilsonville Public Works | circa 2023 We couldn’t let National Public Works Week pass without putting the spotlight on this impressive project. Our firm recently completed the structural design for this 26,000-sf two-story concrete tilt-up and steel Category IV office building, plus foundations for four manufactured buildings. As we continue #publicworksweek enjoying the convenience of running water, paved roads, and reliable electricity, we are taking a moment to appreciate the unsung heroes who make it all possible! #thankyoupublicworks The Oregon City Engineering & Ops Center, circa 2021, was a major remodel of an existing beverage distribution center to City Operations Center and Maintenance Facility. The project included adding a second floor within an existing concrete tilt-up warehouse, upgrades to the lateral force resisting systems for Structural Risk Category IV wind and seismic loads, and a new two-story addition on the north side of the tilt-up concrete warehouse. Winner of the 2022 APWA Public Works Project of the Year, the OC Engineering & Ops Center is yet another great example of what’s possible when talented teams come together. We are proud to have collaborated with our friends at Scott Edwards Architecture on this remarkable project. For National Public Works Week, we’re giving thanks to our community heroes in the public works departments. Their contributions are truly invaluable, and we are honored to recognize their vital role in supporting the well-being of our communities. Circa 2002, our firm had the privilege of teaming up with the talented Scott Edwards Architecture for the development of a new public works facility for the City of Cornelius. The project consisted of a new 7,200-sf administrative office building with a 2,600-sf mezzanine for storage and mechanical equipment. (3) 20,000 sf utility buildings A multi-building public works facility including a 2-story concrete and steel office building, fleet maintenance PEMB with storage mezzanine, decant PEMB, truck wash PEMB, covered materials PEMB, and miscellaneous site structures. The office building was voluntarily designed to structural category IV loading criteria. The office building featured concrete tilt-up exterior walls with open-web steel joists. Jam out with giant jellyfish! WDY is thrilled to announce our partnership with Waterleaf Architecture, GreenWorks, and I&E Construction for an art exhibit at the Portland Winter Light Festival! Our installation is called Jelly Jam and here is a rendering of the concept. We can’t take credit for the artistic inspiration, but our engineers did design cables to support the larger jellies from the buildings.
