The sky is the limit! Yesterday we celebrated Saxton Lane, our new high rise of over 200 affordable apartments, reaching its highest point and taking its place in the Leeds skyline. ? We were joined by Cllr Asghar Khan, Councillor Jordan Bowden, Leeds City Council, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Homes England, Identity Consult and United Living Group to celebrate the milestone. The development is due to complete next year, so watch this space!

Our Communities Together Forum is reaping the benefits of accessibility with a booming membership and a ‘buzz in the air’. The forum brings together representatives from our community groups to share experiences and advice. It has moved to a hybrid format, allowing members to join meetings online, reducing travel cost and time commitments. Making sure our customers are living in safe, comfortable homes is our priority. Last year, we completed over 43,000 safety checks to make sure everything is working as it should be. This included fire safety, gas safety, electrical safety, asbestos surveys, checking lifts and legionella checks. We’re proud to share that for all areas in 2023 / 2024 we are 100% compliant! We've appointed Joel Owen as our new Service Director for Development as we scale up our ambitious new build development programme to deliver 1,500 new homes over the next three years. With over 20 years of experience in the housing sector, Joel has held several senior positions at local and regional housing associations and joins us from First Choice Homes Oldham, where he was Development Director for the last four years. Last year, we built and acquired over 400 homes and Joel is excited to build on the solid foundations already in place as we seek to increase the number of new affordable homes over the next three years. Housing and Health Director | Providing Integrated Housing and Health Services | Improving Health Outcomes for Local Communities
Another great week in Housing ?? The highlight was the opportunity to engage with our WDH Capital Delivery Team. I saw their brilliant work on the kitchen replacement program, where the finished kitchens looked fantastic. Following that, I observed the wall tie replacements, and the progress made on the external wall insulation programme. This work is not only enhancing the warmth and energy efficiency of our homes but also significantly improving their overall appearance. I was particularly impressed by the team’s dedication to health and safety, as well as their commitment to meeting our customers’ needs. It was clear to see how much pride the team have in their work and how they put the customer at the heart of what they do. It was rewarding to hear the positive feedback from our customers, reflecting the team's hard work and dedication.
