Congratulations to Stone Bank on the grand opening of their new headquarters! The newly renovated space features a striking two-story glass vestibule with balconies on the north and east sides of the building. The interior was completely remodeled, with a focus on infusing light throughout, as well as incorporating natural materials, colors, textures, and lighting that align with and enhance Stone Bank’s brand. The new and improved Rockefeller Early Childhood Education Center is open! The former elementary school was completely reimagined by WDD to meet the needs of preschool students and their families, with vibrant new classrooms, maker spaces, indoor exploration areas, and a dedicated space for community functions. Originally built in the late 1970’s, this major renovation breathes new life into the facility through upgraded finishes along with the use of color, natural light, and rounded forms. Along with the updated finishes, the building received substantial security and life safety upgrades including secured entry vestibules, a new fire sprinkler system, and structural enhancements. The Resort at Rockwater is under construction! Slated for completion in 2025, the multi-family apartment complex will contain 365 luxury units right on the bank of the beautiful Arkansas River. The complex will feature full landscaping and high-end luxury finishes throughout all units. The future resort is the result of the collaboration of many, including the Rockwater developers Lisa Ferrell and Jim Jackson, as well as Terra Forma and Moses Tucker. WDD would like to congratulate the new Southwest Junior High School for their grand opening in Fall of 2024. Following a multiyear design and construction effort, the project included the demolition and replacement of 83,000 SF of 1960s era construction, as well as 150,000 SF of new space. The heart of the school is a 7000 SF atrium which serves as the media center, flanked by classrooms and labs for art, culinary, agribusiness, EAST, and robotics programs. The new 34,000 square foot Texarkana Regional Airport Terminal is a gateway for the Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas Region. As the first thing travelers experience when arriving to the twin cities, the terminal is designed to reflect the area’s culture and wood industry. The new terminal on the west side of the runway replaces the old east side facility. WDD is pleased to announce three talented new hires: Joe Covey, Phillip Morgan, and John Kennedy. Joe has over 20 years of informal experience in construction – renovating and building houses, structures, and systems of all kinds. He is a trained communicator, having graduated in 2012 with a master’s degree in Modern Language. He worked as an educator and administrator at the University of Arkansas until deciding to change careers in 2021. As a contract administrator for WDD, he keeps a pulse on projects for the owner and the architect. He is passionate about seeing a building go from concept to creation. Throughout his career and extensive time abroad, he has fostered a keen sensibility to people and process. ? Phillip brings 10 years of Architecture and Construction experience to WDD. Working as a bid coordinator and junior estimator for a general contractor, and as an Architectural Designer; he has gained experience managing on a wide array of project types ranging from retail to government and medical facilities. He holds a Masters in Architecture from Arizona State University and a BS in Architectural Studies from the University of Arkansas. ? John Kennedy is a new architectural designer that just recently graduated with a Bachelors of Architecture from the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design. John worked as an intern for WDD last summer. Raised in Little Rock, he is excited to return to Central Arkansas to start his career in architecture. #wdd #architecture #arkansasdesign
