Did YOU celebrate Pi Day last week? Our IT and Hospitality & Baking clubs sure did! Last Friday, March 14th (3.14), these two student clubs teamed up to bake pies that have been stored in the freezer and will now be for sale starting Monday, March 24th! Apple, French Silk, and Chicken Pot Pies will be available for sale in various locations. See flyer for details (and some action pics) below. Thanks to our Instructors & Club Advisors William Barkhaus, Jim Schultz, Mark Krzyszkowski, and Jack Birren, CEC for helping facilitate this for our students.

  • Students from our Interior Design Club volunteered their time and talents to participate in the Student Design Competition at the NARI Milwaukee Spring Home Improvement Show, held February 14-16 at Wisconsin State Fair Park. NARI is the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. The challenge was to design a 12' x 12' space with the given theme, Biophilic Design—a concept focused on creating resilient spaces by understanding the deep connection between nature, human health, and performance. The goal of the student design display was to show consumers what the theme could look like in their homes by setting up realistic spaces. The students chose to create a home office titled "Nature's Nook." They had a tight timeframe and budget and worked as a team to bring their vision to life. "We are incredibly proud of our students for stepping forward to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world setting," said Anna Janke, ASID, WRID, NCIDQ, Faculty Advisor for the WCTC Interior Design Club. "Their hard work and enthusiasm reflect the future of interior design." The Interior Design Club thanks NARI Milwaukee, Inc. for providing this opportunity and fostering connections between students and industry leaders.

All proceeds from the ticket sales of the event will go towards the WCTC Fire/EMS and Culinary student clubs to help with additional training, programming and equipment costs. We are still looking for sponsors for this event to help offset the costs for the chefs’ ingredients.
