At 91.3 WCSG, we are more than just a radio station; we are a local, non-profit Christian ministry that has been encouraging and empowering the community for over 50 years. The songs you hear, the podcasts you stream, and the events you attend are only made possible thanks to the ongoing support of our listening community. ? Next week we kick off Days of Giving, our bi-annual fundraising campaign that helps generate the financial resources needed to continue operating as a commercial-free, family-friendly radio station that elevates God’s love and brings people together. As we get ready to begin, we want to invite you to be part of the team that’s encouraging thousands by sharing your stories, prayers, and gifts with us. ? With your help, we can continue bringing the love of Christ into homes, cars, and workplaces every day. By hearing people’s stories, playing encouraging music, and promoting positive conversation, together we can create a sense of family across West Michigan. Visit wcsg.org/donate to learn more.

At WCSG we want our radio station to be filled with positive music and messages that people of all ages can enjoy. However, we also know that life is full of hard moments, and our podcasts are designed to empower our community by providing faith-based resources for support. ? Season 3 of our “Through Rough Waters” podcast launched its first episode this week, and WCSG’s Zach Allen and Kevin DeKam from West Michigan Wellness Group are exploring themes surrounding mental health and relationship that many in our communities are wrestling with.? ? “We’re bringing a solid biblical and clinical perspective on topics that include parenting while working through trauma, coparenting, and talking with kids about sexuality,” Zach explains. “We will also have conversations about toxic relationships, marriage and boundaries, how family of origin influences adult relationships, and discussions about nutrition and its relationship with mental health.” ? WCSG seeks not only to encourage our listeners, but to also make sure people know they are never alone in whatever battles they may face. We are so grateful to Zach, Kevin, and West Michigan Wellness Group for sharing their hearts, expertise, and experiences to help support our community through these important conversations. Listen now at WCSG.org.?

This weekend, WCSG’s held its 38th?annual Father Daughter Banquet, a two-night celebration with over 1,100 guests gathering for an elegant evening at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. Each night included fun activities for dads and their girls to enjoy around the Gardens, a professionally catered meal, and a special worship concert led by Christian artists Natalie Layne and Bay Turner. ? Special thanks to DeVries Jewelers, HIGHPOINT ELECTRIC, INC., and Riverbend Body Shop for giving us the ability to continue the legacy of this unforgettable event for fathers and daughters in the community. Because of you, guests had an opportunity to build memories that will last them a lifetime. What an incredible gift you’ve given to families across West Michigan!

Working in ministry is an incredible privilege because it gives us a chance to use our professional talents toward people and causes we truly care about. ? But working in ministry can also be challenging. ? Challenging, because we are tasked with trying to encourage and build community in a fractured and divided world. ? Challenging, because we are called to pour our hearts into something outside of ourselves that not everyone will receive. ? Challenging, because sometimes we begin to question if we are even making a difference. That’s why we are grateful that today, WCSG was able to attend Ada Bible Church’s Annual Recourage Conference. Featuring powerful messages from Jeff Manion, Mindy Caliguire, John Dickson, and Dave Stone, this year’s event walked us through how the people who carry out God’s redemptive and restorative work on a daily basis need to fan the flames to keep their fires burning. What a wonderful opportunity to care for our souls, reconnect with God, and renew our hearts and minds with continued purpose and passion. It was an incredible day, and we are so glad we could experience it with so many other ministries from around the community who love people in the name of Christ!

Kevin Richards: 50+ years. Chuck LaTour: 45+ years. Joel Hill: 35+ years. ? Total: 130+ years. ? That’s the combined experience the WCSG news team brings to our newsroom every day. ? Sharing stories and headlines that impacts the lives of our listeners while reflecting the values of WCSG is no easy task. While we don’t shy away from negative or difficult topics, we center our attention on information that resonates with our audience while using words, tone, and phrasing that is mindful about young ears that may be listening. ? We are incredibly blessed to have a news team with the level of experience that Joel, Chuck, and Kevin bring to the table. It is because of their commitment to the craft that we can continue to meet and grow our standards of excellence. We strive to maintain a welcoming presence not just through our music, but also through the news we provide to the community.

WCSG will be lighting up the scorer’s table during basketball games at South Christian High School this season, but we’ll be doing so much more than that. ? “As a family friendly radio station, we want our brand associated with events that strengthen family bonds while bringing people together,” says Leah Gartner, Marketing Director for WCSG. “Supporting other Christian organizations is a natural fit for our mission of building community across West Michigan. Having WCSG’s presence at athletic events around the area is a great tie into what we’re all about.” ? Whether at home, in the car, at work, or even at a basketball game, we want everyone to know that WCSG is rallying behind you – wherever you are.?

Radio is a form of media designed to be brief, concise, and direct for people on-the-go, so we center our on-air messaging around soundbites that accommodate these shorter spaces of time. However, for listeners who enjoy diving deeper into the Bible and what it has to say to us, we’ve created the Good News Blog. Each week, a member of the WCSG team shares a personal reflection or story that reveals how God is moving in their lives and how He might be moving in yours. We are so blessed to have an incredible body of talent who is not only committed to sharing their unique expertise with our station, but who are also fully invested in using their individual testimonies to bring people closer to Christ.

In addition to our family-friendly content on-air, we want to empower listeners by providing resources that address real life issues they may be facing. We are so excited to be covering this important topic this season on Through Rough Waters.
Back in the saddle! Zach and Kevin DeKam were back in the WCSG Radio Studios today kicking off the first episode of season three! This #podcast opportunity has exceeded all of our expectations and been a wonderful way for us to connect with our #community. Today’s episode will release in a few weeks and kicks off an extensive series on parenting, starting with #Parenting through #Trauma with WMWG’s very own Brooke Holmes.
