Sharing stories and headlines that impacts the lives of our listeners while reflecting the values of WCSG is no easy task. While we don’t shy away from negative or difficult topics, we center our attention on information that resonates with our audience while using words, tone, and phrasing that is mindful about young ears that may be listening. ? We are incredibly blessed to have a news team with the level of experience that Joel, Chuck, and Kevin bring to the table. It is because of their commitment to the craft that we can continue to meet and grow our standards of excellence. We strive to maintain a welcoming presence not just through our music, but also through the news we provide to the community.

WCSG will be lighting up the scorer’s table during basketball games at South Christian High School this season, but we’ll be doing so much more than that. ? “As a family friendly radio station, we want our brand associated with events that strengthen family bonds while bringing people together,” says Leah Gartner, Marketing Director for WCSG. “Supporting other Christian organizations is a natural fit for our mission of building community across West Michigan. Radio is a form of media designed to be brief, concise, and direct for people on-the-go, so we center our on-air messaging around soundbites that accommodate these shorter spaces of time. However, for listeners who enjoy diving deeper into the Bible and what it has to say to us, we’ve created the Good News Blog. Each week, a member of the WCSG team shares a personal reflection or story that reveals how God is moving in their lives and how He might be moving in yours. We are so blessed to have an incredible body of talent who is not only committed to sharing their unique expertise with our station, but who are also fully invested in using their individual testimonies to bring people closer to Christ.

In addition to our family-friendly content on-air, we want to empower listeners by providing resources that address real life issues they may be facing. We are so excited to be covering this important topic this season on Through Rough Waters.

We’re at the heart of winter when we all begin to long for a little boost, so WCSG, together with Accurate Engines, Chick-fil-A Restaurants, and the City Farmer, are bringing a little fun to listeners through our Winter Rescue contest. This not only gives us a chance to give a gift back to our community, but it allows our on-air teams to engage directly with listeners while providing encouragement that simple joys can be found in every season. Last night we witnessed an incredible display of worship and unity led by Grammy-Award winning artist CeCe Winans at Grand Rapids First in Wyoming. While it can sometimes feel like the world is hopelessly divided, seeing over 3000 people with their hands raised praising God serves as a beautiful reminder that Jesus has the power to bring us all together! People often call into the studio wishing to provide encouragement to others who’ve reach out to share their prayer requests on-air, so we felt called to explore how we might fill this need for our community. ? Thanks to the innovation of Hope Media Group, we’re excited to share that we’ve launched the “WCSG Prayer Wall,” a supportive online community where listeners can now share their personal prayer requests while praying for the needs of others. This allows us to connect better with listeners and listeners to better connect with each other while ensuring that no prayer is left unheard. We are excited to announce that Tom Neering and Jenna Perry are now teaming together to host WCSG’s Most Music for Your Middays! ? “A long-time host for our midday program, Tom has been bringing years of on-air experience, spiritual depth, and established relationships while Jenna will be adding a fresh view and vibrant energy for our midday audience” says WCSG Program Director Brittany Riva. “By bringing unique personalities and perspectives together, we can encourage deeper connections with listeners to make them feel more a part of the WCSG community.” ?
