The next step toward our bold vision is a multi-phased plan that includes a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with family suites, modernizing the labor & delivery experience, construction of a new Mother Baby unit, further developing our women’s medical/surgical unit, a new chapel, and other notable interior and exterior improvements. In February, while playing with her siblings and friends in the family home, 11-year-old Olivia Gulotta fell over onto one of her friends and began having a seizure. She was later diagnosed with epilepsy. Under the care of pediatric neurologist Dr. Kenneth Habetz and his team at the Our Lady of Lourdes Children’s Specialty Center, Olivia was able to eliminate her seizures. A sixth grader at Chitimacha Tribal School in Charenton, not much slows Olivia down these days. She enjoys hanging out with her 8 siblings and friends, watching movies with the family and singing along with Taylor Swift. Like our beloved STM Cougars, Olivia has shown time and again what it takes to be a champion. That’s why she is the Our Lady of Lourdes Health Geaux Hero of the game for November 8!
