WBGU-PBS broadcasts a high definition digital signal on UHF channel 22 (or virtual channel 27 via PSIP) from a transmitter near Belmore, Ohio.

As one of the nation’s largest college bands, the Bowling Green State University Falcon Marching Band was selected to perform in the iconic St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland, marking its first international performance in its 102-year history. The band will be one of only three college marching bands in the parade, which winds through Ireland’s capital city for about two miles, typically drawing half a million spectators. Of the band’s record 425 members, 300 students, faculty and staff are making the self-funded international journey. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for #BGSU students, and I am thrilled that our incredibly talented Falcon Marching Band members are being given the chance to showcase their talent and poise on a global stage,” said Jon Waters, a professor and the director of marching and athletic bands. “Marching band is about so much more than #music and performing. These students are learning valuable life skills, and this cultural experience will only enhance that. “I believe our students should leave the University with two pieces of paper — a diploma and a passport. Raymond Cotis, a WBGU-PBS crew member and Student Leader, took over the director’s chair during a portion of the BGSU vs. Toledo Women’s Basketball Game on 2/22. Raymond also played a key role in pre-production by assisting in the creation of video packages used during the broadcast. WBGU-PBS produces video for ESPN+ for both Women’s and Men’s basketball in addition to providing live video support for the video board to enhance the fan experience. WBGU-PBS employs Bowling Green State University students part-time in all of it’s productions including athletics, travel, public affairs, promotions and community programming. Victoria Graham, Northwest Ohio Regional Director of OhioGuidestone, joined The Journal with WBGU-PBS to talk about our work and the many services we offer, including AFFIRM, an evidenced-based eight-session practice for LGBTQ+ youth. AFFIRM focuses on reducing depression, validating identity and improving coping mechanisms for LGBTQ+ youth and adults by providing them opportunities to develop self-awareness, recognize the link between thoughts and feelings, and identify strengths and ways of coping. AFFIRM equips participants with the tools to manage and influence those factors. Victoria did an amazing job explaining why AFFIRM is so impactful!
