Occupational falls are the second highest cause of work-related deaths behind transportation incidents. The danger of falls is present in every job and injuries from falls can range from a sprained ankle to a head injury. Per the NCCI, falls or slips were the third most costly lost time workers’ compensation claim from 2021-2022. March is National Ladder Safety Month and this year’s theme is “Every Step Matters.” Three workers are killed every week and 50 workers a day are injured due to ladder-related incidents with the most common causes being incorrect extension ladder angle, inappropriate ladder selection, insufficient ladder inspection, improper ladder use, and lack of access to ladder safety tools and information. Women in Construction Week runs from March 2nd through March 8th and is focused on celebrating and promoting the role of women in the construction industry.
