As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we’re proud to spotlight some of the women who help drive Wayne-Sanderson Farms forward. Meet Lenoir Bailey, Retention Associate at our Flowood, Mississippi, Prepared Foods Complex. Lenoir joined the team six years ago and has since made a lasting impact. Her strong work ethic and positive attitude quickly stood out, and a supervisor encouraged her to apply for her current role. Now, as a Retention Associate, Lenoir is one of the first welcoming faces new hires meet. She supports onboarding, conducts employee check-ins, and ensures team members feel valued and supported in their roles. “I want them to feel seen, heard, and appreciated,” she says. For Lenoir, the most rewarding part of her job is building relationships and watching employees grow. She understands that starting a new job can be overwhelming, so she strives to create an environment where people feel encouraged from day one. Her advice for success—one she’s coined as her catchphrase—is simple: “Keep showing up!” Because when you show up with dedication and a willingness to learn, opportunities will follow. Thank you, Lenoir, for all you do! #MakingChickenAmazing #WomenInAg

Wayne-Sanderson Farms’ Laurel, Mississippi Complex was recently presented with the Crystal Award for its support of United Way of the Pine Belt Region (UWPBR). This award recognizes the company’s significant increase in contributions to the organization in 2024! Laurel team members contributed through payroll deductions and direct contributions, which were amplified by a matching donation from the company. As a United Way Sponsor, Wayne-Sanderson Farms is a long-time supporter of local community causes, with historically strong team member participation in giving to the UWPBR. “This is our community and our team members know how important United Way is for people in need,” said Bill Odom, Laurel Complex Manager. “We’re proud to get behind the good work UWPBR does for this region, and we look forward to participating in their upcoming donation campaign in April.” Way to display our core value of stewardship, team! #MakingChickenAmazing

After a 53-year career with Wayne-Sanderson Farms at the company’s Collins, Mississippi Complex, Otis Magee, Line Associate, is officially retiring. For decades, he has been a staple of the complex, known for his hard work and dedication. Otis joined the company in 1971 and has witnessed its growth and evolution over the years. However, through all the changes, one thing has remained the same. “We have always been about putting out good product and making sure things are being done right, especially here at Collins,” he says. Throughout his career, Otis has made countless memories and built lifelong relationships. “One of my favorite memories is meeting the love of my life. I met my wife here, and we were inseparable. I even bought my first vehicle here,” he shares. He also credits several team members and supervisors for their support and influence over the years. “Wayne-Sanderson Farms is my life. I have some supervisors that have been influential to me while working here,” he reflects. One in particular is Danielle Ratliff, Poultry Processing Supervisor. “I’ll never forget, on the day of my wife passing, Danielle left her church revival to come be with me and my family. That really meant a lot to me. The people are great here also. I do not know how I would have made it without Mary Wells and Charles Mickell,” he says, mentioning two fellow line associates. While Otis will miss his colleagues and the work he loves, he is looking forward to retirement, sharing, “I plan on helping my daughter out with the grandchildren. I’m even thinking about planting a garden. I may even join a senior citizen group. I do plan on traveling with my sisters. They have been waiting on me to retire!” Offering advice to others, Otis shares, “Always be yourself and do your work to the best of your ability. Treat others like you want to be treated.” Thank you, Otis, for 53 years of #MakingChickenAmazing! We appreciate your dedication and wish you all the best in this next chapter. Join us in celebrating Otis!
