This morning Waverly Heights honored our veterans who have served our country with courage, strength, and dedication. This #VeteransDay we remember and thank you for your sacrifice and bravery.

This week, in honor of National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month, Waverly residents and staff took the extra step in the fight against Alzheimer's. ?? The event was sponsored by the Waverly Heights Diversity Committee, which made a donation on behalf of the entire Waverly Heights community.

Congratulations to this year's graduates of the Novare Management Essentials Program! As a part of Waverly's participation in Novare, eight members of the Waverly Heights and Waverly Care teams participated in the program, expanding their knowledge, and building the necessary skills to effectively manage teams and support our residents. The start of Waverly Fall Festivities 2024! ?? Our staff had a spooktacular time this week, enjoying a themed lunch and costume contest judged by our residents! Therapeutic Recreation took home first prize for their group costume, Little Bo Peep and her sheep. ??

Our Life Enrichment Coordinator, David, recently hosted two impactful programs for our residents: "From Silence to Strength in Aging" and "What's New in Medicare for 2025." In the first session, David explored the emotional journey of aging, addressing the common losses we face, like changes in hearing, mobility, and independence. He then invited PA MEDI Counselor Doug Keene to guide residents through essential Medicare terms and options for 2025.

Waverly continues to support Tree House Books and their Books in Every Home campaign. This month, Waverly donated 505 books. That makes a total of 1,509 books for the year! Treehouse Books strives to create and sustain a community of readers, writers, and thinkers and mitigate the Philadelphia literacy crisis. Waverly will continue to support this effort and promote lifelong readership and access to high-quality books for every child. Thank you to everyone that helps us continue to support this great organization!??

Gladwyne-based Waverly Heights residents donated 1,000+ books to Treehouse Books, supporting the literacy needs of children and adults in North Philadelphia.

Great chefs inspire great food! We couldn't let Chef Appreciation Week pass us by without recognizing the incredibly talented chefs we have here at Waverly. ???? ??? This past week Waverly chefs had the opportunity to showcase their creativity with a featured dish. From Chef Oris' Coconut Curry Salmon to Chef Paul's Gnocchi with Short Rib Ragu, everything was delicious! Thank you for your continued dedication to our residents and the entire Waverly community!

We had a blast this week at the Annual Waverly Games! Residents and staff teamed up for some friendly competition in 13 different games including, putting, bocce, brain games, Wii Sports, a walking race, and more! ????? Thank you to our Diversity Committee and Fitness Center staff for all of their hard work organizing these events.
