Sophia Hawkins is our Animal Care Team Volunteer of Excellent for Fall 2024. Sophia was nominated by Biologist, Kelly Dinan, who had this to say, "Sophia is an amazing volunteer. The herpetology team is always very excited to see her signed up for a shift. She is such a hard worker and is always willing to take on any task we give her. She excels at everything she does. Her work ethic is exemplary. She is dependable, reliable, and such a joy to be around. We are very lucky to have her as a volunteer." Grace Barnes is our Exhibit Interpretation Volunteer of Excellence for Fall 2024. Grace was nominated by Guest Experience Lead, Mari Yeager, who had this to say, "Grace is amazing and well-spoken when conveying information to guests at the turtle discovery cart. When asked about the contents, she methodically points out each turtle and object guiding guests through a verbal and visual journey of turtle conservation. It is impressive that Grace is able to provide such a high level of content and energy which is mirrored by her captive audience!" Grace started in the Teen WAVE Volunteer Program this fall and has truly embraced her role as an exhibit interpreter. Thank you, Grace, for providing Newport Aquarium guests with thought-provoking and engaging content!

Todd and Cherri were nominated by WAVE’s Executive Director, Tricia Watts, who had this to say, “Todd is a member of the WAVE Board of Directors and the Board's Resource Development Committee. He and his wife Cherri volunteer together at both of WAVE's annual events, usually helping with a Giving/Merch Station. They do so cheerfully and really engage our guests. Both are dedicated to WAVE's mission and go above and beyond to fulfill duty as Board member (and volunteer).” Todd and Cherri make a great team, and we are so happy they have chosen to share their time and talents with WAVE Foundation.
