Check this out! Students in Mr. Briggs' AP Physics I class at Waukee High School are making physics come to life with hands-on collision experiments. ?? Using carts and motion sensors, they tested elastic and inelastic collisions — analyzing how energy behaves in each scenario and feeding real-time data directly to their iPads. #InnovationSpotlight #WeAreWaukee
As part of a hands-on science lesson, 2nd graders at Waterford Elementary School tackled the question, "Can you build houses out of paper?" After creating 12-inch towers from note cards, they discussed their designs and began working on another 6-inch structure strong enough to hold a textbook. It was fun to see some success!?? #WeAreWaukee
?? Our elementary students shined during the LeaderInMe Symposium this past week! While some students traveled to Des Moines to help with the conference, others welcomed guests to their school to showcase leadership clubs, assemblies, Lighthouse teams, and more. Educators from across the country gathered for the two-day event to learn how to implement leadership initiatives like ours in their own schools. #WeAreWaukee

Students from Waukee APEX's Construction Leadership program brought their skills to life by building garden boxes for Woodland Hills Elementary! This marks the 10th school in the district that has received student-made garden boxes. ??#WeAreWaukee
It's Caitlin Clark Day! Our 2nd graders joined students statewide in receiving a Caitlin Clark picture book donated by an Iowa organization. Sugar Creek Elementary celebrated with students dressed in Caitlin-inspired outfits, displaying basketball related artifacts, and sharing their non-fiction writing they did about Caitlin — what an amazing way to honor a true role model! ?? ??
Waukee Middle School is taking learning to new heights! 8th graders in the new Code, Create, Innovate class are applying real-world scenarios while piloting drones. In this mission, they were challenged to capture drone photos of sharks (stickie notes) near the shore (building blocks) — all within 60 seconds! This is just one of the many activities students will engage in to explore computer science and technology in today’s world. Impressive! #WeAreWaukee #ForABetterWorld
