Third graders at Walnut Hills Elementary had a special visitor recently — Urbandale Police Department’s K9 Arko! Officer Weaver and her trusted partner gave students an inside look at the role of police dogs, commands, and even how Arko helps apprehend suspects. Today was the 4th annual Eason Elementary Cereal Dominoes! Over 1,000 cereal boxes were collected and carefully set up to tumble through the hallways. The cereal will be donated to WayPoint Resources. #NationalCerealDay #WeAreWaukee #ForABetterWorld

Ginger Akason, a third-grade teacher at Brookview Elementary School, was one of eight teachers statewide selected for the Greater Iowa Credit Union’s $1,000 Project Classroom grant. A special visitor stopped by the celebration in Mrs. Akason's classroom! #WeAreWaukee

Mr. Linnett’s 4th grade class at Waukee Elementary is bringing science to life with a plant terrarium, thanks to a grant from the Waukee Community Schools Foundation. Students are researching soil types, discovering the benefits of isopods and worms, regrowing plant cuttings, and feeding their Venus flytrap — all while documenting scientific observations on their iPads. The class is even incorporating their new love of plants into creative writing and poetry. "Basically, I am trying to include our plant learning into everything we can," Mr. Linnett says. ?? #InnovationSpotlight #WeAreWaukee

Ten exceptional 5th graders from each Waukee CSD elementary have been selected to join the Honor Choir! These students came together from across the District this afternoon to rehearse for the first and only time. They'll give a special concert tonight at Waukee Northwest High School!
