关于我们
WattTime is a nonprofit with a software tech startup DNA, dedicated to giving everyone everywhere the power to choose clean energy. We invented Automated Emissions Reduction (AER), which allows utilities, IoT device and energy storage companies, and any end user to effortlessly reduce emissions from energy, when and where they happen. Our cutting-edge insights and algorithms, coupled with machine learning, can shift the timing of flexible electricity use to sync with times of cleaner energy and avoid times of dirtier energy. We sell solutions that make it easy for anyone to achieve emissions reductions without compromising cost and user experience. WattTime was founded by PhD researchers from the University of California, Berkeley, and in 2017 became a subsidiary of Rocky Mountain Institute.

“More and more organizations are committed to accurately reporting the real-world impacts of their clean energy procurements. The Grid Emissions Data platform will support and accelerate that trend by offering the highest quality data available, free from the constraints of a paywall.” - Lee Taylor, CEO of REsurety. Ready to unlock the next tier of carbon reduction impact from your EV? With V2X (or vehicle-to-everything) charging, your car’s battery can act as a net carbon sink. All that’s needed are the right signals and charging infrastructure. This new white paper published by Fermata Energy, with support from WattTime, explores how V2X charging can cut CO? at scale by charging at times of surplus renewables and discharging when fossil fuels dominate your local grid. But today, V2X is typically optimized for financial savings only — not emissions. Since electricity prices and marginal carbon intensity don’t always align, smarter policies and incentives should take advantage of readily available marginal carbon signals to unlock the full climate potential of V2X. Kudos to our partners Clearloop and Microsoft for teaming up to bring 100 MW of new solar to regions where it will make the greatest difference for communities and the climate! What impact can 100 MW of solar have in the US with an emissionality-based approach? ?? New projects in 20 communities that face worse-than-average air pollution (3x better for human health than building near Microsoft headquarters) ?? Avoiding over 5 million metric tons of CO2 emissions in 40 years (2x better than building solar in CA or WA) Learn more about these groundbreaking projects: https://lnkd.in/d23v828S #Solar #Emissions #EveryTonneMatters #EmissionsFirst #Emissionality

BIG NEWS: WattTime.org and REsurety are now offering global hourly marginal emissions data to users who need it most for free. ?? These data are critical to unlocking an impact-based approach to carbon accounting and decision making that allows institutions of all kinds to reduce more emissions faster. On the new Grid Emissions Data platform, small corporate buyers of clean energy and industry researchers, who may have had difficulty accessing these insights in the past, can now download high-quality, accurate, and granular marginal emission data via a single website and database. "More and more organizations are committed to accurately reporting the real-world impacts of their clean energy procurements," said Lee Taylor, CEO of REsurety. "The Grid Emissions Data platform will support and accelerate that trend by offering the highest quality data available, free from the constraints of a paywall.” Learn more in the press release: https://lnkd.in/gDAYnvip #EveryTonneMatters #GridEmissions #GlobalEmissions #EmissionsData

We’re just days away from #SXSW2025 in Austin, Texas, and, thanks to your votes, Silicon Ranch Corporation will be hosting two panels at this year’s event: ? "Shepherding The Future: Agriculture and the Energy Transition," will take place on Sunday, March 9th, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM CT in Salon A at the Hilton Austin Downtown. This panel features our friends and leading regenerative farmers, Roxanne Newton of Hound River Farm and Will Harris of White Oak Pastures, along with our Chief Operating Officer, Boris Schubert, and our Senior Manager of Regenerative Energy Operations, Jim Malooley. The panel will highlight the benefits of the dual use of land for solar and agriculture (agrivoltaics), with Silicon Ranch’s use of managed grazing sheep to control the vegetation under and around solar arrays as a model. https://lnkd.in/g5c9YmKq ? On the same day at the same location from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM CT will be our second panel, "Location Matters: Optimizing America's Energy Transition" featuring Laura Zapata, the co-founder and CEO of Silicon Ranch's carbon solutions platform Clearloop alongside Laura Corso (Cirincione), the VP of Strategic Growth at WattTime.org; Joe Azar, Director of the Panola Partnership; and Andrew Peterman, Director of Advanced Energy Solutions for Rivian. This panel will outline how emissionality, a measurement of the relative benefits of a renewable energy project based on location, can help site solar projects in areas where they have the most economic, environmental, and health impact. https://lnkd.in/gFKJ2tC9 ? Join us in Austin for these exciting conversations! #MakingSolarDoMore SXSW

“Enjoy responsibly” has taken on new meaning for Heineken, who reached 84% renewable electricity in 2024, and is slashing emissions up and down their value chain. ?? How did they do it? ?? By taking a global approach to decarbonization, they have supported communities around the world while taking a cost-effective approach to reducing their emissions. The HEINEKEN Company is a founding member of the growing Emissions First Partnership, which aims to make faster climate progress by using better data to prioritize projects in places with the highest potential for real-world emissions reduction. So, while they celebrate progress on scope 2 (electricity) emissions reduction, they’re also calling for corporate GHG accounting to evolve in ways that encourage more authentic climate progress. Global electricity demand is expected to rise 4% annually, says a new International Energy Agency (IEA) report, but that demand is not evenly spread across the global economy. “Emerging and developing economies are expected to account for 85% of global demand growth… the IEA report said.” Herein lies a major opportunity to make sure we meet that demand with emissions-free electricity sources. By building new renewable capacity in those emerging economies, and where emissions are already the highest, we can reduce emissions faster on a global scale. https://lnkd.in/g5SpUDAc #GlobalDevelopment #Emissions

??NEW report from McKinsey & Company confirms that optimizing your renewable energy purchasing strategy to reduce emissions from the grid overall reduces significantly more emissions than a facility-level hourly-matching strategy. ?? “The clear conclusion from our analyses is that procurement and dispatch decisions made for the broader grid rather than individual customers cut more emissions, use power more efficiently, and lower costs.” the report states. This emissionality-based approach not only benefits the grid and the atmosphere, but it also saves more money for power purchasers. “Our findings suggest that companies seeking the most impactful clean-energy strategy should instead make power investments using an integrated, grid-level lens that encompasses the state, power market region, or even country in which they operate.” ?? The broader you look, the bigger your opportunities are to improve the climate impact of your investments. It doesn’t have to stop at the country level, after all, the goal is reducing CO2 on planet Earth, not just above the US. https://lnkd.in/eAjnnhng
