In this interview, Clif and CK McKenzie—Watson’s former and current CEOs—talk about their generational leadership transition, their different paths to the job, and the shared values that keep them aligned. Clif raised the bar on product design and function. CK brought a disciplined mindset grounded in clarity and real-world experience. Together, they’ve led Watson through big changes and into a new chapter—without losing sight of what matters most: people. Give it a listen if you’re curious how two very different leaders stay on the same page.

A building designed to demonstrate climate resilience doesn’t need rigid furniture. At the new Ryan Resilience Lab—designed by Work Program Architects for the Elizabeth River Project—flexibility was a must. The nonprofit needed a space that could shift throughout the day: from volunteer orientations to team meetings, from public programs to private work sessions. Our Seven Flip Tables made that easy. Durable, mobile, and easy to store, they can be reconfigured for learning, conferencing, or community events without needing a full facilities crew. For mission-driven organizations that need their spaces to do more, this kind of practicality goes a long way. #WatsonFurniture #CommercialDesign #FlexibleDesign #SustainableDesign

New configurations, more ways to work. Edison Rail creates a structured workspace with built-in flexibility, while Allé Work Tools bring added function—making space for meetings, collaboration, and presentations. Planters and screens support focused work, while an adjacent Allé Meet Up Table offers an easy transition for team discussions and idea-sharing. Smart, seamless, and built for dynamic work. #WatsonFurniture #WorkplaceDesign

Not every storage piece is designed to be seen—but the Tia Sideboard deserves attention. It brings the same refined aesthetic as the rest of the Tia line, with the durability to handle high-use spaces. Whether supporting hospitality areas, conference rooms, or office lounges, it balances elegance with practicality. Beautiful, functional, and built to last.

Gardner Builders’ newly expanded headquarters embodies their ethos: hospitality at the heart of construction. Studio BV created a layered, welcoming environment to support dynamic collaboration, focused work, and team-driven innovation. Designed for teams and to adapt to different work modes, Haven is right at home in an office that prioritizes comfort, choice, and productivity. Whether it’s large group sessions, impromptu brainstorming, or quiet focus time, this space—and its furniture—works the way Gardner Builders’ teams do. ?? Gaffer Photography

The best workplaces aren’t about clinging to the old or chasing the new—they’re about balance. Every generation brings something valuable, and the future of work depends on blending those strengths: - Networking with purpose - Hard work without burnout - Climbing the ladder AND expanding the lattice The workplace isn’t about choosing sides—it’s about working better together. #GenZ #FutureOfWork #WorkCulture

Open office, hybrid, hoteling—whatever the setup, a workbench is one of the smartest ways to make space work harder. And Edison does it the best. Single-sided, double-sided, height-adjustable, or fixed—it’s a modular system designed for change. Need to scale up? Shift configurations? Keep things streamlined? Edison makes it easy with intuitive starter-adder logic, built-in power access, and solid cable management. Edison doesn’t overcomplicate—it just works (and looks good while doing it).

Arc’teryx is known for stripping away the unnecessary to focus on what truly matters—so it’s no surprise their new workspace, designed by Skylab Architecture, follows the same approach. Featuring Watson Miro and C9 Meeting Tables, the space is built for flexibility, sustainability, and seamless function. Why this workspace is a perfect fit for Arc’teryx: - The workspace keeps pace with the process - Minimal and intentional - Sustainability is woven in Simplicity, when done right, is anything but basic.
