This is just some of the material salvaged from the initial deconstruction phase at?Watershed Row?. Being able to reuse materials that had a previous life in the same building means that this project gets to cut down its carbon footprint immensely, and its thanks to a great group of people. This project team knows that every minute, decision, and material on a project counts and we are lucky to work with people who don't waste those. 关于我们
Watershed Row will transform a historic 1928 building into a community hub centered on local food, art, and rock climbing with abundant landscaping and outdoor seating to welcome pedestrians. At its core is a love for the wild and working lands of the Klamath Basin. The project as a whole will take radical responsibility for its material, energy and water relationships to meet the Living Building Challenge (LBC).

Last Thursday, Watershed Row hosted its highly anticipated Groundbreaking Ceremony! We were fortunate to hear from an assortment of speakers touching on small farms, the arts, emergency resilience, construction, indigenous perspectives, the Living Building Challenge, and how they all intersect with Watershed Row. Beyond our great speakers and their wisdom, we saw an even greater community show up and support our endeavor. This meant everything to us- and now, we are ready to build this thing! Let the construction begin! For more insight on this event, check out this article our local paper :) https://lnkd.in/gDFJwU-5

As we near the end of May, we wanted to take time to reflect on American Wetlands Month. Wetlands play a vital role in slowing, spreading and sinking water in a watershed. They also filter water, control floods and erosion, and are essential habitat for migratory birds and other wildlife. The Klamath Basin is widely recognized as an ecological gem; Teddy Roosevelt called it the “Everglades of the West”. However, we have lost 80% of our wetlands, mostly due to development in the early 20th century. It’s no coincidence that peak numbers of migratory birds in the Basin have also dropped by over 80% in the last ~60 years. Watershed Row looks to wetlands as a model: the building and site will capture, clean and recirculate all water that flows through. More broadly, Watershed Row will be a space to slow down and connect to what’s around us. Why are wetlands important to you? #AmericanWetlandsMonth

In January, thanks to the magnificent work of our architects at Place Collaborative, Watershed Row was featured in the Urban Land Institute's Materials Movement report! ?? ? In our feature, it notes that Watershed Row's adaptive use is "leveraging thoughtful material sourcing and reclamation principles to deliver regenerative, community-focused spaces in the heart of southern Oregon." It also highlights our careful tactic of deconstruction, rather than demolition, to preserve as much material as possible. Check out the full report below. #LivingBuildingChallenge #CommunityBasedDesign
