  • What do I do if want to start treating my own water, but I don't I have a water expert in my company? Or, I don't have a spare $million to buy the machine? I opt for a full-service contract. The machine is brought in, treats my water, and my "janitor" can handle any issues that arise, like changing a filter or performing basic maintenance. It's a simple, fully managed system, and if necessary, the capital comes with it. This is water as a service—it's the new trend, and it's gaining traction. Companies like ours, which were sold to private equity to provide this service, have fetched about half a billion dollars each.

  • Imagination shapes reality. No situation is hopeless—there's always a way out. I learned this the hard way in the 80s when I shut down my IT business, only for the next guy to make millions off the annuity I overlooked. The better idea is always there if you look for it.

The Hidden Drain on Your Budget: What If You Could Invest for 100 Years? For Public Works Directors and Utility Managers, wastewater infrastructure isn’t just a technical challenge—it’s a financial one. Every year, budgets are stretched between emergency repairs, maintenance backlogs, and aging infrastructure that wasn’t built to last. But what if your next investment didn’t just solve today’s problems—but set your system up for 100 years of reliability? ?? Modular Water Systems? delivers wastewater infrastructure built for generational impact. Unlike traditional concrete and steel, which degrade over decades, our advanced materials and factory-built systems are engineered for a century of service life—reducing total life cycle costs and freeing up capital for other critical needs. ?? Less Emergency Spending – Reduce the constant drain of unplanned repairs. ?? Predictable O&M Costs – Eliminate the uncertainty of aging infrastructure failures. ?? Generational Investment – Ensure reliability not just for today, but for the next era of your community. A 100-year wastewater solution isn’t just about longevity—it’s about financial sustainability. When you can shift from reactionary spending to strategic investment, your community wins. What would your Capital Improvement Plan look like with a 100-year solution? Let’s talk. ?? https://lnkd.in/dsXmhbU9 #SustainableInfrastructure #WastewaterSolutions #PublicWorks #UtilityManagement

The Infrastructure We Take for Granted Most people don’t think about water and sewer systems—until something goes wrong. As a Public Works Director, I faced the challenge of managing aging, buried infrastructure with limited resources. Unlike roads and buildings, underground systems don’t visibly deteriorate, making them an easy target for deferred maintenance. The problem - Out of sight, out of mind—until a catastrophic failure forces a costly emergency repair. I quickly learned that securing funding required more than just stating the facts. Decision-makers needed to see the impact. The turning point came when I shifted from technical memos to storytelling. Using fiscal analysis, future trend data, and visual models, I painted a picture of two futures: one where proactive investment kept systems reliable, and another where neglect led to service disruptions and skyrocketing costs. This approach changed the conversation. Instead of reacting to crises, we started planning ahead. The lesson - Infrastructure isn't just a technical challenge—it’s a communication challenge. When people understand what’s at stake, they make better decisions. How are you making the case for investment in your community’s infrastructure?

?? Why Design-Build is the Future of Wastewater Solutions When it comes to wastewater infrastructure, time, cost, and efficiency matter. Yet, traditional Design-Bid-Build (DBB) processes often lead to delays, budget overruns, and misalignment between engineering, manufacturing, and installation. At Modular Water Systems (MWS), we take a different approach—Design-Build (DB)—delivering fully engineered, factory-built wastewater solutions that streamline the entire process. ?? The MWS Advantage ? Streamlined process – From concept to commissioning, we handle it all ? Lower risk – Reduced change orders and cost overruns ? Faster installation – Pre-engineered systems minimize site work ? All-in-one expertise – Our in-house engineering team ensures seamless coordination ? Proven results – Successfully deployed across municipal, industrial, and decentralized applications ?? Why settle for outdated methods when you can have a smarter, faster, and more cost-effective solution? ?? Ready to transform your wastewater projects? • Imagine a housing development or an office building powered for 500 years by a single uranium pellet. If we adopted this approach, the entire climate change narrative would shift. Concerns about eating insects would become irrelevant; nuclear power would simply replace fossil fuels, and that would be the end of the story. I feel similarly about highly transformative high-tech innovations. Consider your cell phone. It's a computer that fits in the palm of your hand that’s exponentially more powerful than the mainframes we dealt with in the late '60s. I’m a firm believer in technology’s ability to revolutionize everything. So, what’s our technological approach to water? Decentralization! It dismantles monopolies, opening up a wealth of entrepreneurial opportunities. Modular Water Systems

  • You probably know septic tank rules have gotten stricter—leach fields need to be far from the house, and if they fail, you’re looking at nasty groundwater contamination. What is Modular Water Systems fix? A closed-loop system that recycles black water. It cleans up the dirty stuff, and you can use it for things like your golf course. Just empty the sludge tank once a year. It’s like a septic tank but fancier—think ultrafiltration and all that jazz—so it meets city standards. Then, reuse it however you want!

?? The Case for Wastewater Decentralization: Keep Water Where It’s Needed ?? Aging, overburdened centralized wastewater systems can’t keep up—but why keep pouring money into failing infrastructure when there’s a smarter, more sustainable way? Decentralized wastewater treatment is the future. ? ?? Reduces strain on maxed-out municipal plants ?? Eliminates costly pipeline extensions for new developments ?? Scales with demand—treatment where it’s needed, when it’s needed ?? More resilient in the face of climate events and system failures ?? Unlocks water reuse & reclamation—Why send our most valuable resource downstream when we can reuse it for irrigation, cooling, or groundwater recharge? The future of wastewater isn’t bigger—it’s smarter. Let’s build a system that works for today’s challenges while securing our water for tomorrow. ?? • Something I rarely talk about is pump stations. When your water is flowing along and needs to go uphill, you need a pump. It’s a simple setup: a shaft with a pump at the bottom that pushes the water up. The problem is, when materials like cement, steel, or fiberglass corrode, they start leaking water into the groundwater, leading to water loss. If it’s a sewage line, you also get contamination. But with high-density polyethylene or polypropylene enclosures, you don’t have to worry about that. Insert Modular Water Systems. This matters because I read that in the UK, they only get around to replacing a pump station every 200 years, even though they only last about 20!
