We’re thrilled to welcome J. Hunter Adams, M.S., Water Source & Purification Superintendent for the City of Wichita Falls, to the #WRTX Board! Hunter is a Double A licensed Water and Wastewater Operator with over a decade of experience in water research. Hunter’s work has been widely recognized, including receiving the 2020 WEF Laboratory Analyst Excellence Award, 2023 Opflow Publications Award, and 2024 AWWA Division Best Paper and Golden Spigot Award. As a water professional and a life-long Texan, Hunter understands the importance of moving reuse practices forward in our state—and he also knows that this might look different in every community. He says, "I've lived in drought-prone north Texas my whole life, and I know firsthand how important it is to increase safe and reliable water supplies. Some form of water reuse can be implemented by any community, and WateReuse Texas brings researchers together and helps communities advocate for reuse." We’re excited to work with Hunter, moving #onewater forward in Texas communities and beyond! #waterreuse #waterindustry

Today is World Toilet Day. Each year, the United Nations chooses a theme to commemorate this day, and this year’s theme is “Sanitation for Peace”—underscoring the importance of resilient, effective, and accessible water and sanitation for all communities. With threats like climate change, regional conflicts, and aging infrastructure on the rise, many lack access to these basic services. We hope you take some time today to think about how vital water and sanitation are not only to your own community and livelihood, but to the global community as well.

We’re excited to welcome Brigit Afshar Buff, PE, PMP, Water Planning and Natural Systems Team Leader at Plummer Associates, Inc., to the #WRTX Board! With 17 years of experience in water, wastewater, reuse systems, and water resources engineering—including planning, design, management, and construction—Brigit will be a great addition to our leadership as we move water reuse and our vision of #onewater forward. What brought Brigit to WRTX? She tells us, “In a state as large and diverse as Texas, where water scarcity is a perpetual concern, implementing reuse strategies can provide a reliable and resilient water supply. WateReuse Texas is a powerful tool to help address some of these challenges, and I’m looking forward to leveraging my diverse background to strengthen the future of the organization.” We’re looking forward to working with Brigit and tapping into her extensive expertise too. Please join us in welcoming Brigit aboard! #waterreuse #waterindustry
