As you know, the United States—the world’s largest supporter of clean water, sanitation and hygiene—has retreated. We are acting quickly to minimize any impacts to the communities we serve. One thing is clear: WaterAid is not backing down in our work to provide clean water to vulnerable communities. We’ve faced challenges before, and we are rallying to weather this storm. Our board, leadership team, staff and partners around the world are committed to delivering our mission of getting clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene to everyone, everywhere—no matter what. To our valued partners and champions: your continued support makes it possible for us to change lives every day. Thank you for helping us keep the water flowing.

WaterAid has one goal: to change the world through water.
关于我们
WaterAid is an international non-profit with one goal: to change the world through water. Along with decent toilets and good hygiene, a reliable supply of clean water is essential for health, dignity and a life full of opportunity. We started out in 1981, when UK water companies created a single organization dedicated to tackling the global water crisis. Today we work alongside communities worldwide setting up entire systems that deliver clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene for millions. And we get the people, policies and money in place to keep these systems working – and the water flowing for good. So that people have safe, reliable services that last. Our work with communities, partners, allies and supporters has already meant millions of people can shape their own future with dignity and confidence. Together, we are working with determination towards the day when we are no longer needed.

Reliable clean water access for Chinyama, the nurse/midwife in charge at Chisekesi Rural Health Center, in Zambia, has made all the difference. Rather than ask patients' relatives to collect water outside the center, the staff know they will have water to care for mothers giving birth from the water kiosks, installed thanks to funding and technical support from WaterAid. The original project was built between 2009 and 2012. In Chabota, two kiosks fed by a very deep borehole, nearly 200 feet, were built to provide the community with clean water. Water is pumped up into a 2,600 gallon tank using solar panel electricity and piped to the two kiosks. Solar panels were used as the water is so deep it needs an electric pump to access it. In addition to the staff and patients at the health center, the surrounding community is also able to access the water for their personal use. The water kiosks are run by local vendors in the community and serve 2600 people. There are now around 9,000 people in the village. Our water projects are built to last, ensuring reliable clean water for the long-term. This recent interview with Chinyama is part of WaterAid’s efforts to review the long-term impacts of a community having access to clean water. #zambia #healthcare

New WaterAid research published today explores how the world’s 100 most populated cities face increased danger from extreme weather patterns – risking the security and survival of communities around the world.? The data shows that weather-related disasters such as flooding and drought have increased by 400% in the last 50 years, endangering access to vital water and sanitation and making it harder and more expensive for cities to withstand weather disasters.? Floods are hitting South Asian cities, the US and Europe are getting drier, and both extremes are creating climate whiplash across four continents, including Africa. On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate the incredible strength, resilience, and leadership of women across the globe. Access to clean water is essential for all, but its scarcity disproportionately affects women and girls, particularly in water-stressed communities. By addressing water insecurity, the Women + Water Collaborative is breaking down barriers and opening up new opportunities for women to thrive. As an added bonus, this is good for business! And The Collaborative has grown since last year. See what's new here: https://lnkd.in/gjC-gsZm #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2025
