WaterAid has one goal: to change the world through water.

关于我们

WaterAid is an international non-profit with one goal: to change the world through water. Along with decent toilets and good hygiene, a reliable supply of clean water is essential for health, dignity and a life full of opportunity. We started out in 1981, when UK water companies created a single organization dedicated to tackling the global water crisis. Today we work alongside communities worldwide setting up entire systems that deliver clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene for millions. And we get the people, policies and money in place to keep these systems working – and the water flowing for good. So that people have safe, reliable services that last. Our work with communities, partners, allies and supporters has already meant millions of people can shape their own future with dignity and confidence. Together, we are working with determination towards the day when we are no longer needed.

  • As you know, the United States—the world’s largest supporter of clean water, sanitation and hygiene—has retreated. We are acting quickly to minimize any impacts to the communities we serve. One thing is clear: WaterAid is not backing down in our work to provide clean water to vulnerable communities. We’ve faced challenges before, and we are rallying to weather this storm. Our board, leadership team, staff and partners around the world are committed to delivering our mission of getting clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene to everyone, everywhere—no matter what. To our valued partners and champions: your continued support makes it possible for us to change lives every day. Thank you for helping us keep the water flowing.

Access to clean water and decent toilets unlocks health and time for students, like Pushpa and her classmates. With these resources at school, the students' health has improved and they no longer need to leave the site when they need a bathroom. Change starts with clean water ??

  • "When I first started working here, we were facing serious water challenges. I can still remember the anxiety I felt when mothers came in to deliver their babies and had to bring their own water. If they didn t have any, they were forced to go to nearby communities in search of it. It broke my heart to see them struggle at such a critical time." Zainab, a midwife in the Kisarawe district of Tanzania shares what it was like to care for vulnerable patients without the necessary tool of reliable clean water. No healthcare worker should struggle to provide safe care for their patients, yet over one in five healthcare facilities don’t have clean water inside the facility. We're working to change this.

  • Sending some love for the magic of clean water this Valentine's Day! ?? We never get tired of seeing the joy and transformation that comes when reliable access to clean water reaches communities in need. Harriet's story is no exception. Harriet's smile reflects the profound impact of gaining access to clean tap water. Before the intervention, she and her family suffered from illnesses due to contaminated water shared with animals, leading to financial and health struggles. They had to collect their daily water from a far away source that took hours each day. With the arrival of clean water, her family's health improved, her children could focus on school, and financial burdens eased. Harriet is now able to maintain better personal hygiene, care for her animals, and support a vegetable garden. This transformation has brought immense joy and hope to Harriet's life. Access to clean water changes lives. WaterAid/ James Kiyimba #ValentinesDay

  • Technology and training are an essential part of the work we do. Today we applaud the women within our network who use their knowledge and expertise to make such vital work happen! Everything from testing water quality and water levels, to the science of how our water infrastructure fits together and is maintained to best ensure a project's longevity, and so much more! So how do we create sustainable solutions for accessing clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene? We always look for technology that’s easy to transport, even to the world’s most remote communities. It has to be simple to maintain, and made from materials that are readily available in local markets, along with any spare parts. Our technical solutions won’t involve complex maintenance or expensive components or chemicals. And with the training we provide, they’ll be easy for families and communities to use and maintain, long after our partners have completed their work. 1. Anjali, a WaterAid India field worker.
