Friday, Nermine went to Florence, where she was inducted into the esteemed Order of PARTE GUELFA, an international knighthood of Honorable Knights and Dames committed since the 13th century to building a better world and preserving the environment. The multi-day investiture ceremony includes a formal procession through the historic streets of Florence. Updates from our ground team in??Huzi Village, Tanzania! ???? Recently, our dedicated team of field officers visited Huzi Village and confirmed that the water systems are functioning successfully, providing clean water to thousands of residents. The community no longer bears the burden of walking treacherous paths in search of water, and they are no longer suffering from water-related illnesses. One of the mothers we spoke with, Marium Eliya, shared her heartfelt gratitude: "I depend on agriculture both for income and for feeding my family. A few years ago, before we had access to clean water, we faced severe challenges. We had to walk long distances to fetch water, which was often unclean, causing frequent illnesses like typhoid, diarrhea, and amoeba infections. Hygiene was difficult to maintain without enough water, and it was hard on the community. Our children often arrived late to school and had to fetch water when they returned, leaving them little time to rest and study, which affected their academic performance. Since the taps were turned on, we now enjoy clean, safe water right near our homes. We no longer suffer from frequent illnesses, and we can encourage the children to study more now that water is readily available. For us women, this is a huge relief—we no longer need to walk long distances to get water. The biggest change for me is having a farm close to the tap, where I grow vegetables like tomatoes. This project has truly transformed my life and my family’s well-being, as the income from my farm helps me cover our needs, from school expenses to daily essentials.
