Since 2001, Water Mission has served more than 8 million people in 60 countries, sharing safe water and the message of God’s love. Water Mission’s global headquarters is in North Charleston, SC, and the organization has more than 400 staff members based in Africa; Asia; North, South, and Central America. Charity Navigator has awarded Water Mission its top four-star rating 17 years in a row, a distinction shared by less than 1% of the charities rated by the organization. Meet Damalie, a midwife from Ikonia, Uganda! Damalie dedicates her life to caring for mothers and newborns at her clinic, but before Water Mission brought safe water solutions, the risks of maternal death and infection were alarmingly high. With a dream to support women in need, she trained as a midwife and came to Ikonia to make a difference. However, without access to safe water, her ability to provide quality care was severely limited. “Before safe water, the maternal mortality rate was 20%. Now, it’s down to just 0.2%,” Damalie said. “We can now work and be productive,” Damalie says. “Together, we’re improving lives for everyone.” ??
