Latin America is facing a water crisis that’s holding children back. Without reliable access to clean water, children face illness, missed school days, and difficulty concentrating. All of this means missed education and missed opportunities. For #WorldWaterDay, we're making the urgency of this water crisis a tangible experience by launching The Dehydrating Book: a first-of-its-kind story that can only be read when hydrated. Together, we can change the story for children without water. Explore more: https://lnkd.in/gpy2AWmb #TheDehydratingBook

We can't end the week without sharing some facts about the impact a lack of water and sanitation at school has on a child's education and overall development. So here are five of our most pressing ones ?? 1?? Worldwide, 447 million children do not have access to basic drinking water services at their schools. 2?? Being dehydrated by just 2% impairs performance in tasks that require attention, psychomotor, and immediate memory skills. 3?? An adequate intake of safe drinking water and appropriate health education reduces health risks among children and adolescents. 4?? Hydration positively influences cognitive ability and mood, especially among school children. 5?? Children may limit their water intake to avoid using inadequate toilets. Ready to take action? Together, we can change the story for children without water. Join us: https://lnkd.in/g-ZudFmK.

Yesterday, we launched #TheDehydratingBook Campaign to the world (and our colleagues). We shared some of the personal stories that made this campaign possible in a live panel with English and Spanish interpretation - because we're proud, excited, and grateful for the opportunity to collaborate globally! Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday's event and to all those who made this work possible, from the Water For People team in Peru to our colleagues in the Strategic Communications Team. Most importantly, thank you to the students in Palmira, Cascas, Peru, who created The Thirsty Hummingbird story. May our imagination never run dry. Help us continue changing the story for children without water in Latin America and beyond, to learn how, visit: https://lnkd.in/g-ZudFmK. To our Water For People colleagues, here's a challenge: In one word, how would you describe the latest campaign? This book needs water – just like millions of children in Latin America. Today, we are launching The Dehydrating Book: a first-of-its-kind story that can only be read when hydrated. The story within, as imagined by the students of Palmira in Peru’s Cascas Valley, is a powerful reminder that access to water is access to education, opportunity, and a brighter future. Worldwide, 447 million children don't have access to safe drinking water at their schools, leading to more illnesses, decreased cognitive performance, low focus, and absenteeism. With this book, we are making the urgency of water scarcity a tangible experience for all. #WorldWaterDay #TheDehydratingBoook?

Without water, children can’t learn. Did you know that worldwide, 447 million children lack access to basic drinking water at their school? That's more people than the entire population of the United States (333 million). This crisis is holding children back – leading to illness, missed school days, and lost opportunities. As we approach #WorldWaterDay, we're shining a light on how the global water crisis affects children. Together, we can change the story for children without water
