Our mission – a world where everyone has lasting access to safe drinking water and sanitation, for #EveryoneForever.
关于我们
Water For People exists to promote the development of high-quality drinking water and sanitation services, accessible to all, and sustained by strong communities, businesses, and governments. We're working to reach Everyone Forever. Water For People promotes safe and reliable water and sanitation services for every family, clinic, and school. This means every single person – even the hardest to reach, the most vulnerable, the marginalized – has access to safe water and sanitation services. It’s not enough to just reach Everyone. We want to make sure water and sanitation services are sustainable. Forever means working from the ground up and top down – empowering communities and governments so that Water For People won’t have to be around forever, but water and sanitation services will be.

Watch This Space!? As part of our #WorldToiletDay celebrations, we’re excited to launch the 56 km Muyaga-Ramba Water Supply System in Gisagara District tomorrow. Constructed in partnership with the Government of Rwanda through?WASAC Group?and the District under a joint Gisagara WASH program, this water supply system now serves clean water to over 15,000 people! But that’s not all—new sanitation facilities, including improved latrines and girls' rooms for menstrual hygiene management in schools, are setting the stage for healthier, more dignified lives. The Impact: Clean water and proper sanitation mean zero waterborne diseases, healthier and prosperous communities, and a brighter future for all, especially children. A clean toilet isn’t just a necessity; it symbolizes peace, dignity, and prosperity. Let’s ensure everyone's access to these life-saving facilities. Stay tuned and join us tomorrow for this incredible milestone celebration!

Every day, women and girls spend 200 million hours collecting water, and those without access to toilets spend over 250 million hours finding a place to go. For Folomina, this is a thing of the past. She no longer walks two hours daily for water or battles illnesses caused by unsafe sanitation. Access to water and sanitation is not just about convenience—it’s about restoring dignity, protecting health, and building resilience. Discover how Folomina's life was transformed through access to safe water and improved sanitation: https://ow.ly/27mk50UaxHq

It's #WorldToiletDay, and we are here to tell you that the world is seriously off track to achieving safely managed sanitation for all by 2030—one of the targets of #SDG6. This lack of progress hinders efforts across many other SDGs, particularly health, gender equality, education, sustainability, and a clean environment. For women and girls in particular, a lack of safely managed sanitation, water, and hygiene services leaves them more vulnerable to abuse, attack, and ill health, affecting their ability to study, work, and live in dignity. We are talking about staggering unrealized human potential due to poor sanitation. At Water For People, we believe this is unacceptable and must change. We can solve the water and sanitation crisis in our lifetime. ??Source: World Health Organization and UNICEF 2023

Sanitation is a fundamental #HumanRight. Currently, 3.5 billion people around the world lack access to safe toilets. Factors such as conflict, climate change, disasters, and neglect undermine human dignity and hinder global efforts to achieve #SDG6. At Water For People, we believe that everyone deserves access to dignifying toilets—spaces for peace, protection, and an opportunity for progress. #Toilets = #Peace #Progress #Protection

Progress needs to increase 6x for safely managed drinking water, 5x for safely managed sanitation, and 3x for basic hygiene for the world to achieve universal access by 2030. This means considerable investment—especially as communities face the impacts of climate change. Mark Duey, Water For People's CEO, shares three financing priorities to accelarate progress toward resilient water and sanitation access for #EveryoneForever in Latin America and beyond.
