Connecting the dots between surplus food and hungry people since 1990
关于我们
Waste Not volunteers rescue Our Mission Waste Not Want Not, Inc., a volunteer-supported organization, exists to prevent the discarding of items that can be used to fight hunger and poverty in our community. We do this by rescuing food daily from numerous sources for distribution to local charitable organizations, and through other cost-effective, volunteer-driven initiatives.

Fighting hunger + poverty is at the very core of our mission. Yesterday, our Executive Director and Director of Mission Delivery attended a day-long class on the complexity of poverty, it's causes, it's definitions, and most importantly how to partner with people living in poverty to fill gaps in their basic needs. Thank you to the Reinhold Foundation for sponsoring this class!

Thank you Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens and the amazing Chef Josh for choosing to provide Waste Not Want Not, Inc. with unused food from a recent event held at the Zoo. Rather than waste these tasty bites, they will go to two partners who serve meals to our hungry neighbors. #endfoodwaste #fighthunger #StrongerTogether ??

Waste Not Want Not, Inc. was in the community visiting one of our partners in the fight to end hunger Pie in the Sky St. Johns! Thank you Phyllis Wood for giving our Executive Director a lovely tour, sharing more about your mission and introducing her to your "merry makers" who were working on Easter bunnies for the seniors served by Pie in the Sky. Pie provides bags of fresh produce, bread and single serve meals to over 700 older adults many of whom are living on a very low fixed income. Waste Not is proud to partner with Pie in the Sky! Thank you to our volunteers who rescue food day in and day out so these seniors will not go hungry. ??

Thanks once again to the amazing Amy Parker and incredibly supportive Paul and Klare E. Reinhold Foundation for yet another truly beneficial training yesterday morning. The topic...Fired Up Board Fundraising! Many times nonprofit board members need insight in how to raise and generate resources for the nonprofit they love. This class gave useful and practical tips - some of which, our Board Chairman Rick Hood will certainly implement. Thank you Alexandra Reinhardt one of our other passionate board members for attending as well! ??

Waste Not Want Not, Inc. was in the community visiting one of our partners in the fight to end hunger, Community Health Outreach of Jacksonville! CEO Dr. Rob Thomas, met with our Executive Director, Dr. Kathleen Spears and received a tour of their incredible facility from Lise Dabney, their operations director. CHO has a food pantry called "The Lord's Pantry", an infant/new mother pantry called "Baby Love" and a full service clinic offering primary care, dental, and behavioral health to our un and underinsured neighbors. Our volunteers rescue and sort food as well as hygiene and clinic products that CHO is able to get into the hands of people who need help. ?? our partners ?? our volunteers!

Today, thanks to our castle volunteers holding down the fort, the Waste Not Want Not, Inc. team was able to attend a very informative training to help guide us as we navigate changes to the organization with our recent change in leadership and renewed focus on executing our organizational strategic plan. The topic: "Change Management for Nonprofits" is timely, relevant, and exactly what we needed! Thank you to the Paul & Klare Reinhold Foundation for offering this insightful and important program!

Thank you Baptist Health and Alexandra Reinhardt for visiting our food rescue and distribution operations. Our small but mighty organization rescues thousands of pounds of food and works with dozens of organizations to get that rescued food into the bellies of our hungry neighbors. Katie Dalbey Ensign Toni Callahan, M.Ed. and Jennifer Donahoo along with board member Alexandra Reinhardt braved the elements to learn more about how we fight hunger in our community!
