One of the things we love the most about managing the state’s Capitol Campus is that it brings our staff and the community together. For example, today DES staff have been at the st????as (Steh-Chass) Festival at Heritage Park in Olympia. They’re sharing information about the transformational Deschutes Estuary Restoration project that will restore 260 acres in the heart of Olympia to an estuary, and they’re also asking visitors, “how do you want to use the water?” The land and water of the project has important cultural, historic, and ecological value to the Squaxin Island Tribe and the people of Washington.
