Community and faith leaders from across the Miami Valley came together this morning to celebrate and memorialize Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the annual MLK Breakfast hosted by the Centerville-Washington Diversity Council. The keynote speaker this year was Ms. Lynda Blackmon Lowery, a key figure in the civil rights movement and a highly respected activist who marched in pivotal events like “Bloody Sunday” and “Turn Around Tuesday”. It was an honor to hear her story and to spend the morning alongside so many community members. Thank you to the CW Diversity Council for hosting this important event each year! Our community received almost a foot of snow earlier this week and, over the past several days, our dedicated Washington Township Public Works crews have worked tirelessly to pre-treat roads and clear snow so our community can get back out on the roads safely. Our Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies and Washington Township Fire Department firefighters never missed a beat in responding to emergency calls, despite the challenging conditions and frigid temperatures. The preparation and dedication from these departments made all the difference. THANK YOU for working so hard to keep our residents safe. We appreciate you!
