Step into the boots of park leadership with this story ?? This past summer, our staff member, Kristen Oliphant, had the privilege of spending a day with Greg Dudgeon, the Superintendent of Mount Rainier National Park. She writes, "it was eye-opening to experience firsthand his many responsibilities and his thoughtful engagement with the park and the communities around it." While there are a lot of unknowns about how public lands will be impacted by recent federal actions and executive orders, one thing we do know is Washington’s National Park Fund will always stand behind the parks. ?? Our mission to support Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks isn’t changing – and never will. ?? Here are three ways you can make an impact today: ? Donate to support the parks. We’ve launched a Resilience Fund to collect donations that will be put to work according to the parks’ most critical needs: wnpf.org/resilience ? Recreate with care to minimize your impact. Being good stewards of these public lands is more important than ever! ? Thank the park staff! These dedicated public servants collect entrance fees, clean bathrooms, conduct research, conserve the land and the wildlife that call it home, perform search and rescue, provide information, pay the bills, fight fires, and so much more. ?? Want to share a message of thanks with the parks and their teams? Learn how in our latest blog: wnpf.org/help Thank you for joining us in supporting Washington’s national parks. Every action — big or small — helps protect these incredible places for generations to come. ?? ??: NPS and WNPF Creative Partners: Corey Green, The Crawfords Photography, Matt Oliphant, Mitch Pittman. #ForTheParks #LeaveNoTrace

Elk yeah! It’s #WorldWildlifeDay, and we’re giving a shoutout to the incredible Roosevelt elk. They are more than just beautiful animals; they are an indicator of Olympic National Park's overall health. ???? Through Olympic's Elk Monitoring project, supported by WNPF donors (thank you!), this program is able to observe and research the changes to elk populations throughout the park and the impact those changes will have across the parks’ diverse ecosystems. ??? Isn't wildlife and nature the coolest?! We think so. ?? Want to learn more the future of elk monitoring? ?? Happy 126th birthday, Mount Rainier National Park! ?? From towering peaks to lush valleys, this iconic park is a treasure that fills us with awe and deep respect. ?? For centuries, it has been a sacred place for Indigenous tribes, and today, it stands as a haven for wildlife, a living classroom for science, and a playground for adventurers. With 97% of its land preserved as wilderness, it’s a place where nature thrives and future generations can connect, learn, and protect what makes this park so special. ?? Today and every day, we celebrate Mount Rainier and the amazing park rangers and staff who care for it. ?? Drop a comment with a note you'd like to share to Mount Rainier’s park staff —we’ll make sure they feel the love! ???? ??: Scott Schopman, Mitch Pittman, Patrick Vallely #ForTheParks

They don’t call it Paradise for nothing! ?? This area in Mount Rainier National Park is well-named, any visitor who has had the chance to visit in the late summer to see its iconic wildflower meadows at their peak will tell you.??? These fragile flowers aren’t just beautiful — they’re vital ecosystems, supporting a wide range of animals that call the park home. Unfortunately, unwitting meadow stompers stepping off the trail to avoid snow can damage these delicate plants, not realizing that they can take years to re-grow. ?? Long-term meadow restoration takes a team effort! With funding from WNPF donors, UW researchers and Mount Rainier’s resource managers have developed a plan to protect and restore this iconic landscape for future generations. ??
