The Washington State Auditor’s Office provides independent and transparent examinations of how local governments and state agencies use public funds, and helps to develop strategies to make government more efficient and effective. We conduct a range of audits that include accountability, financial audits, single audits of federal grant spending, and performance audits as authorized by Initiative 900. We also conduct energy audits that examine municipal and public utility districts as required by Initiative 937 and school audits that examine programs, school districts and educational service districts.
