Here is what we know... **Average salmon and steelhead returns during the last 15 years HAVE MORE THAN TRIPLED at Bonneville Dam compared to the dam's first year of operation (1938). Bonneville Dam was the first federal dam on the Columbia River. **Average salmon and steelhead returns during the last 15 years HAVE MORE THAN QUADRUPLED at Lower Granite Dam compared to the dam's first year of operation (1975). Lower Granite is the most upstream of the federal dams on the Lower Snake River. Our affordable, clean, reliable hydropower can and does co-exist with multiple fish species in our rivers.
