Held in the beautifully-renovated National Museum of Women in the Arts, my PNC colleagues and I cheered for Angela Franco & Deryl McKissack, this year’s Visionary Leader honorees. It is great to be back in DC this week and have the opportunity to attend the Washington Area Women's Foundation’s 2024 Stand Together Reception! Attending events centered on women and girls is always a pleasure. Thank you, Tiffani Whittaker for the invitation. Today, causes supporting women and girls receive only 1.8% of all philanthropic giving. Last night I had the honor of joining the Washington Area Women's Foundation for their Stand Together Reception. It was so refreshing to be in a celebratory atmosphere with so many incredible women who are leading incredible and necessary initiatives in the DC region and beyond! The Women’s Foundation’s President and CEO, Tamara Wilds Lawson, PhD laid out a vision and a charge to support spaces that allow women and children to THRIVE. Amen.

Had a great time with my favorite DC lawyer and law school classmate, Joy Gerdy Zogby, at the Washington Area Women's Foundation Stand Together reception. WAWF does vital work supporting efforts that advance gender, racial, and economic justice in the DMV region, and we at Voices for Virginia's Children are grateful for their partnership. And it was great to reconnect with an old friend! As 1Ls, a group of us would eat breakfast together in the university dining hall after our first class of the day. We'd talk law and politics, and we'd wonder if we would ever understand the rule against perpetuities. We started calling it "Family Breakfast." Proud of the other Family Breakfast alums who are all doing fantastic work in their respective areas of expertise.

Wonderful examples of how grit (that's for your Cary Hatch ), drive and determination is the key to success for up and coming powerhouse women.
