While traditionally run as separate entities, the Washburn University Foundation and Washburn University Alumni Association have always shared common goals: promoting the Washburn mission, fostering relationships, and creating new possibilites for former, current and future students. Thus, the Foundation was combined with the Alumni Association to create the Washburn University Alumni Association and Foundation, a single point of community for alumni and other members of the Washburn University network. Our focus is on building relationships for a stronger tomorrow. The Washburn University Alumni Association and Foundation exists to serve. We celebrate the past while looking toward an even brighter future. We give back to those who once called Washburn University home while facilitating their contributions to help others do the same.

We are filled with gratitude today for the $500,000 gift from Security Benefit to support planned renovations for Henderson Learning Resources Center. Henderson is the largest academic building on our campus, currently housing 25% of classrooms, including the School of Business, nearly all College of Arts and Sciences’ social science departments and a number of undergraduate courses for the School of Nursing. It was a special day as law school faculty and staff gathered with University leadership, alumni, and dear friends and family of our late former dean, Jim Concannon, to celebrate the creation of the James M. Concannon Deanship, Washburn's first endowed deanship. Together, we heard wonderful tributes from several speakers, including Dean Concannon's wife, Melissa Masoner, describing Jim's foundational status within Washburn Law and the Kansas legal community. One of our school's most transformative and beloved figures, Dean Concannon's lasting impact will carry forward through this new deanship and will enable our current dean, Jeffrey Jackson, and every future Washburn Law dean to continue his legacy of exceptional leadership.
