The Clerk's Office is accepting applications for a Legal Recording Clerk, a position involves examining and processing a high volume of recorded and filed documents and legal instruments relative to real property and court proceedings. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A) Associate’s degree or higher; or B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of full-time paid clerical experience working with legal instruments, records, and/or case files which must have included typing and the use of personal computer and common applications. TAX EXEMPTIONS FOR VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS AND EMTS Did you know that volunteer firefighters and rescue squad workers in Warren County are eligible for a 10% exemption on their Warren County property taxes thanks to a law enacted in 2023 by the Warren County Board of Supervisors? The Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a property tax exemption local law for first responders, which creates the exemption on assessed value of a primary residence for volunteer first responders with at least two (2) years of service for the community where they reside while they are an active member. In addition, those who have served 20 or more volunteer years with their community fire department or rescue squad can be eligible for a lifetime deduction. The spouse of a volunteer who is killed in the line of duty is eligible for the exemption as well, with certain qualifications. This change to county tax law was made possible after NY State Legislature passed a law in late 2022 that amended NY State Law to enable the exemption. Thank you to everyone who made our first job fair of 2025 a great success! The event Thursday at Crandall Public Library in Glens Falls drew nearly 100 job seekers, and a number of them were hired on the spot by a variety of employers! NY State Department of Civil Service was also on hand to guide people through the process of seeking a public sector job, and the NY State Department of Labor worked with Warren County Department of Workforce Development to connect job seekers with the right employers.
