The avg. warranty claim takes 22 minutes to process: But what if there was a way to do it in 28 seconds? I recently spoke to Jim Roche, founder and CEO of WarrCloud Inc., on the Car Dealership Guy Podcast to find out how. Top insights learned from Jim: Service is more important than ever. — Dealership profit drivers swing between sales and fixed ops. — Currently, gross profits for new and used vehicles are down 34.4% and 19.3%, respectively. — And it’s pushing dealers to prioritize fixed ops and find new ways to optimize service. Reimagining the warranty process. — Dealers spend $70K on warranty processing, with each claim taking 22 minutes. — Smartsourcing, or intelligent outsourcing, allows dealers to submit claims to a third party. — The third party then uses automation to review the claim and send it to the manufacturer. Why warranties are so important. — Warranty work is up 7.6% YoY, while customer pay is up 4.4%. — This means that warranty volume and revenue are both higher than in 2023. — Speeding up the warranty process can allow dealers to drive even more profit from fixed-ops. A closer look at market conditions. — New vehicle sales have risen over the last year, boosting the number of under-warranty cars. — EVs, whose warranty costs are 300% greater than ICE vehicles, are becoming more popular. — EV and new vehicle sales are expected to remain healthy, leading to bigger warranty revenues. Automating warranty claims. — Right now, 60% of warranty claims can be automated, but only for specific brands. — Eventually, this will rise to 80% and include every brand. — Automating warranty claims cuts the processing time down to seconds instead of minutes.
