Introducing C.A.R.E. Bags! ???? Caring for the Aging & Retired Elderly Many years ago, we launched the SAM Bag program (Senior Assistance Mission) at WCFDB, providing adults 60+ with essential personal care and household items—plus a little sweet treat each month! Thanks to the dedication of Bridge Volunteer Mary Ellen Phelan (with occasional help from her husband Scott), over 200 bags are assembled and distributed every month. ?? Exciting News! In 2024, following a site visit, we were honored to receive a $30,000 grant from Bader Philanthropies to support this program! They also taught us that “older adult” is the preferred term nowadays. That left us with a question… what should we call our bags now? ? Introducing C.A.R.E. Bags! ? This rebrand—Caring for the Aging & Retired Elderly—perfectly reflects our mission, and it has Mary Ellen’s seal of approval!
