???Thank You, Dr. Kenny Grifno and Asif Ratul, for introducing us to the importance of Digital Portfolios!??? A huge thank you to Dr. Grifno for joining the?Association for Information Systems (AIS)?last week and sharing his expertise on how?Digital Portfolios?can significantly enhance our competitive advantage during the hiring process! ? Dr. Grifno introduced his previous student, Asif Ratul, who provided his portfolio as an example. ?Asif shared his job search story with us and stressed the importance of mastering the interview process. This was his advice: ???Bring a printed or digital portfolio.?You can control the questions your interviewer asks by providing content for them to center the conversation on. ???Study your portfolio?and what you claim to know. This will help you better articulate your skills during the meeting.? ???Make it YOU.?Embracing your creativity will make you stand out. You won't land an interview unless you get noticed. As job markets become more competitive, the ability to stand out is more crucial than ever. Dr. Grifno's and Asif's advice is a game changer for anyone looking to differentiate themselves in their career journey. #uark #waltoncollege

关于我们
The Information Systems Department has an active and flourishing research program. We are driven by a common vision to have a significant global impact through excellence in research, teaching, and industry connection. Information Systems is for people who want to solve problems businesses face and create new opportunities by using the latest computer technology. They help organizations use technology to operate more efficiently. They work with other business and IT people to build systems for executives and managers that support their decisions. Master of Information Systems: Innovative organizations place high value on cross-disciplinary leaders, and we've positioned our curriculum to meet that demand. When information technology expertise is blended with traditional business disciplines, our graduates can 'pull it all together' to make timely, informed decisions for their employers. Master of Applied Business Analytics: Employers face a vast shortage of deep analytical talent, as well as managers qualified to make data-informed decisions. Move beyond conventional methods of data discovery. Summarize and present data in ways that can be understood and acted upon. Master of Healthcare Business Analytics: Healthcare is a trillion-dollar industry, generating an explosion of complex data. From insurance companies to hospitals and pharmaceuticals, the ability to harness large amounts of complex data and make informed business decisions is a highly sought-after skill. The Robert L. Shoptaw Master of Healthcare Business Analytics program focuses on how to dive into healthcare data, comprehend the information and then present it clearly for easy consumption. Information Systems Ph.D.: In addition to preparing students to be world-class researchers, the Information Systems Ph.D. program seeks to prepare students to teach effectively in an information systems curriculum.

??Undergraduate Student Spotlight Student: Ava McCrary Major: Information Systems Concentration: Business Analytics Expected Graduation: May 2025 ?What inspired you to pursue a degree in information systems, and how do you see it shaping your future career? I was inspired to pursue a degree in information systems because of the continuously changing opportunities and needs. Data is one of the most powerful and critical factors in successfully managing and growing a business. Data analytics is a skill set that is very valued in the corporate world, allowing me to gain immeasurable insight into the processes and strategies that make a successful business. This degree is the perfect place for someone who wants to grow in any direction it can take you. In addition, it is gaining more and more traction every year, and I am excited to enter this field at its peak. ?Can you share a project or experience that challenged you and what you learned from it during your studies? In the Spring of 2024, I was in the Systems Analysis and Design class. Our semester-long project was to take a business problem or opportunity and then analyze and design a system to solve, address, and create a solution for the problem. This extensive project challenged my creative mind while also requiring learning how to solve the issue at hand effectively. From this project, I learned when it is important to zoom in on the specifics and when to take a step back and see the overall structure of a system. ?What advice would you offer future students considering information systems as their major? For future students considering information systems as their major, I recommend fully investing yourself in this degree. There are so many different paths you can take, such as coding, analytics, visualizations, etc. Every role is crucial to being successful in this degree. A love for problem-solving and investigation will also help you succeed in this degree. Analyzing issues from multiple angles and finding efficient solutions are key skills that make this role so much more enjoyable. ?? Ava was nominated for this student spotlight by Professor Justin Shipp

Always believe in yourself; imposter syndrome lives in all of us, but we can overcome it!? ?? Relationships are key components to getting your dream job—connect with everyone!? ?? Set goals for yourself, but be ready to pivot when new opportunities arise.? ?? The importance of including everyone at the table. Tiffany also spent a lot of time dissecting her career pathway. It was amazing how learning from others can help students gain confidence in their own journeys. Thank you, Tiffany, for your time and wisdom! ??
