MEET THE CHAMBER BOARD - Chair Dr. Nathan Franklin Starting his educational career in 1996, Nathan Franklin served as a high school math teacher and coach for eight years before moving into school leadership as an assistant principal. He joined the Walton County School District in 2007 as an assistant principal before being named principal of Loganville High School. He transitioned to district-level administration in May 2012, serving as the Assistant Superintendent of Facilities, Maintenance, and Operations before taking on the role of Superintendent, a position in which he has faithfully served the students and families of Walton County for the past eight years. With an impressive academic resume boasting five degrees, including a doctorate in executive leadership, Dr. Franklin is deeply committed to education. He actively engages with professional organizations at local, state, and national levels, contributing to associations like the Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA) and the National School Superintendents Association. Currently, he holds positions on the GSSA Board of Directors and the Georgia School Boards Association Risk Management Fund Board of Trustees. Notably, he received the Bill Barr Leadership Award and GSSA President’s Award in 2021, two of the highest honors awarded by the Georgia School Superintendents Association. Beyond his professional commitments, Dr. Franklin is an accomplished coach and avid community servant. His coaching experience spans wrestling, baseball, golf, and football. As an active member of the community, he has also served on various committees and boards, including the United Way of Walton County, Walton County Board of Health, the Walton County Chamber of Commerce, and Leadership Walton Alumni Association. He is also a 2019 graduate of Leadership Georgia, one of the nation’s oldest and most successful leadership training programs. Residing in Walton County with his wife Julie and their three children, Dr. Franklin remains unwavering in his dedication to enhancing education and community well-being.
