Eduardo Delgado has been instrumental in the safety culture of Team Kansas. Since joining the team years ago, Lalo has been involved in every aspect of our operation and always has safety at the forefront of whatever task is at hand. In the shop, he is looking out for others, ensuring proper PPE is being used and that all jobs are being completed in a safe manner. When working on equipment, he is on the lookout for any hazards, defective guarding, guard rails, ladders, etc., and performs any repairs necessary to ensure they are in proper working order before operation. In the field, he keeps track of others to make sure everyone is in a safe location and keeps a close eye on the equipment for any hazards that may arise. When we think about outstanding integrity as one of our core values, Eduardo “Lalo” Hernandez is the first to come to mind. Lalo is a 22-year Walther Farms veteran employee and has seen it all. Most recently in Three Rivers, he was called upon to lead the shop. His outstanding integrity has helped him excel with these new responsibilities. As a husband and father of three he instills in them his same outstanding integrity that makes him such a great teammate. Whenever you speak with him about his family his eyes light up and you can see how proud he is of them. Here in Three Rivers, we are equally proud of Lalo. He has set the example for us on not only in outstanding integrity but all of Walther Farms Core Values. ?Gracias por su servicio y felicidades!

When you think of our Core Values and who embraces them on a regular basis it is easy to select Jeff Macklin to be recognized with the May Core Value Spotlight focusing on Unity and Humility.?Jeff is not only a great father, husband, and individual, but he is also great teammate. Jeff has a wealth of knowledge and experiences but is extremely approachable to discuss any topic at hand.?In the words of one TEAM member, “Jeff has the know-how to get it done and the demeanor to make it very easy to talk to him.”?You will not find a more down to Earth and easy going individual who consistently exceeds expectations. The Finance/IT TEAM has recently gone through some personnel changes and Jeff has been instrumental with both onboarding someone transitioning into a new role while also managing the departure of another TEAM member.?He handled both transitions in stride and helped ensure that other areas across the farm did not feel any negative impact from the changes. Thank you, Jeff, for your kind demeanor and overall uniting influence you have on our TEAM!

Juan Mendes Zepeda joined the team in South Carolina 2019 on our sorting crew and has worked his way to an operator position. Juan shows great attention to detail everyday at work from trying to get ahead with is work to always being on the forefront of wearing his safety equipment and always telling other “!Aguas, cuidado!”. Thank you, Juan, for your continuous hard work and attention to keeping yourself and everyone around you safe! Uriel Leyva and Reginaldo Fierro have been drivers for 2 seasons for the Phoenix Transportation Team. They are consistently committed workers, with an outstanding POSSITIVE ATTITUDE AND PASSION for the work. I witness every day the good mood they are always facing the job. Uriel & Regi are always working to maintain and improve good relationships between all their co-workers. Most of the times we found them walking the extra mile trying to do not only the strict necessary, but anything possible?looking for the best way to accomplish the job. Every time there is special job to do, for a customer or vendor, they have a big smile on their face and a respectful attitude, always upholding the Walther Farms core values. Ethiopian Food Project Update – April 2024 Elzbet (Elizabeth) is a farmer’s wife who lives several miles from the nearest road. The solar dehydrator was donated by the Ethiopian Sustainable Food Project. She uses it every day to dry boiled potatoes for potato flour and she can dry grain and other food without contamination, even on rainy days. The traditional method is to dry foods on a goat skin on the ground. The Food Science staff have done many workshops for farmer’s wives to demonstrate other methods of potato use. The improved varieties produce higher yields so ways to preserve the extra potatoes are needed. Hugo Almonte Medina, known on the farm as “Don Hugo” has been with team Oregon since its first season in 2022. Don Hugo is an electrician and has quickly become a go to for trouble shooting and repairing storage line equipment, pivots, and irrigation pump motors. Working with high-voltage electrical equipment is extremely dangerous but Hugo always makes sure that he and his coworkers take proper safety measures and uses “Lock out Tag out” to inform other contractors that may be working in the area. Hugo is doing a great job at being a champion of safety at Walther Farms Oregon. Congratulations Hugo, Thank you for your hard work and dedication to our team!
