For six years, Kendall has exemplified dedication and leadership, consistently stepping up when it mattered most to lead our middle school and high school programs. His remarkable ability to engage with members, earn their respect, and inspire them to achieve their potential is truly inspiring. Kendall's commitment extends well beyond his formal role—he's a dedicated team player who tirelessly coaches and guides others, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. Whether he's building meaningful relationships with teens, offering a listening ear, or contributing to our Summer Eats program by ensuring that no child goes hungry, Kendall's altruistic spirit and genuine care for others always shine through. His actions demonstrate a profound commitment to making a difference, and his positive influence reverberates throughout our community. “A 'selfless act' is defined as an action demonstrating concern for others with little or no regard for oneself. It stands in contrast to selfishness and aligns with altruism, which entails giving to others without expecting anything in return. Over the summer, he assumed multiple roles, from van driver to meal preparer, and from supervisor to mentor for many first-time workers. Last week, we honored a remarkable employee, Libby, who has dedicated over 16 years of her life to the Waltham Boys & Girls Club and the broader Waltham community. Libby's unwavering commitment, thoughtful nature, and incredible work ethic have made her an invaluable asset in our mission to support those in need and care for families across the city. Libby plays a crucial role in our daily operations, ensuring safe transportation for children from school to the Club. Her sincerity, optimism, humility, and friendliness make her a beloved figure among everyone she interacts with. We are deeply grateful for her relentless dedication to helping the most vulnerable members of our community. During the summer months, Libby is one of the van leads for our food program, managing food service and deliveries to housing developments in Waltham. Her deep understanding of the community allows us to identify and assist families in the greatest need, creating opportunities for the Club to strengthen and expand its community partnerships. Libby's mentorship, leadership, and keen ability to uncover opportunities to support those without access to essential resources are indispensable. We are thrilled and proud to announce that our very own Haybi was honored as the 2024 Boys & Girls Club Massachusetts Youth of the Year last night! Haybi is known among the staff for her consistent, upbeat, and positive demeanor at the Club. She stands out as a leader to her peers and serves as a mentor to the younger children, enriching the Club with her enthusiasm for photography, creative writing, social justice, and leadership. Haybi's kindness, compassion, and her powerful story of resilience were highlights of this year's Gala. Viewing the Club as her second home, Haybi is committed to representing and uplifting the youth of America, focusing on amplifying the voices of underrepresented groups and serving as a beacon of positive change. Through this prestigious platform, she aims to promote greater inclusion of minority groups in leadership roles.
