Last week,?PetSpace attended the eight annual The Astra Awards Presented by the Hollywood Creative Alliance in partnership with Petco Love! Our team joined the event held at the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood, puppies in tow, to promote adoption and create the most adorable red carpet photobombs. The PetSpace pups really stole the show from the celebs ahead of the award ceremony, offering cuddles and kisses to everybody in sight, including? 'Wicked' director Jon Chu, actress Kiernan Shipka, actor Ernie Hudson, and others. Special thanks to Petco Love Director Susanne Kogut for inviting us to such a special event and giving us the chance to share an abundance of puppy love on the red carpet!

This year, Wallis Annenberg PetSpace entered into a partnership with the 15/10 Foundation: a nonprofit organization founded by Matt Nelson that utilizes his famous WeRateDogs platform to spread awareness about shelter dogs in need of costly medical treatment. Its inaugural gala took place last month?and three members of our PetSpace team were invited as partners of this incredible organization. All ticket sales, auction proceeds, and other funds raised benefit the Foundation’s mission to sponsor shelter dogs’ medical fees, ensuring that no dog faces a financial barrier to a loving forever home. Stay tuned for updates on our first 15/10 sponsored dog, Sherbert!?

How do we help pets stay with their families? Step 1: Provide ACCESS to care. Earlier this month, Wallis?Annenberg PetSpace took part in Michelson Found Animals Foundation’s most recent Pet Wellness Day: a monthly event under the Better Neighbor Project that brings pet health and wellness services to the communities that need them most. We set up our pop-up vaccine clinic and offered free vaccinations, flea treatments, and microchips to more than 80 pet owners. Thanks to events like Pet Wellness Day, families in underserved communities can access many of the resources they need to take care of their furry family members—because pets ARE family.?

Wallis Annenberg PetSpace loves partnering with the?Los Angeles Chargers Impact Fund! Last month, the?Chargers honored both breast cancer and pediatric cancer survivors and invited PetSpace along for the festivities. In early October, in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Chargers Impact Fund partnered with UCLA Health to host a breathwork puppy party for breast cancer survivors and their loved ones at their training facility in El Segundo – featuring puppies courtesy of PetSpace! A few weeks later, PetSpace joined again as the Chargers hosted their seventh annual Boo at the Bolt with the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and Walk With Sally.?The event—a Halloween party for children and families affected by pediatric cancer—featured a special book reading with Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker, face painting, trunk-or-treating, and a PetSpace puppy party! Children and adults alike were smitten with our adorable young puppies, and we are so thankful for the opportunity to bring some joy into the lives of those affected by cancer.

Our animal care and medical teams worked to make sure that each cat was spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated! After recovery, SCA?safely returned them to their communities, never again to contribute to the overpopulation of stray cats in Los Angeles.? ? See a recap of the day here:?https://lnkd.in/gXgqmP9A

Presented by Teranga Ranch and Partners — a local non-profit dedicated to educating people about native California wildlife — the event’s mission is to advocate for the widespread adoption of catios, allowing cats to thrive outdoors while protecting our diverse wildlife population. As Southern California experiences another severe fire season, our partner shelters near fire-prone areas have struggled to handle the influx of evacuee pets amongst their already-overcrowded kennels. Since the start of September, we have made multiple trips out to our partners in San Bernardino and Orange Counties to pull adoptable pets and help make space for them to accommodate the pets of families under mandatory evacuation orders. We are so grateful to our team for helping us bring over 30 animals into our care during this incredibly difficult time!
