Nearly 9 in 10 Americans think tipping culture has gotten out of control, according to our 2025 Tipping Survey, released today. Here are some other key findings: ●?Nearly 3 in 5 Americans think businesses are replacing employee salaries with customer tips. ●?83% of people think automatic service charges should be banned. ●?More than 1 in 4 Americans think tips should be taxed (as they are now). ●?Nearly 3 in 10 Americans tip less when they’re presented with a tip suggestion screen. ●?40% of people believe tipping should be replaced by an instant employee rating system so businesses can decide how much to pay their staff. https://lnkd.in/gc3FkNii #WalletHub #Tipping

We just released our latest Credit Card Debt Study, and it shows that we ended 2024 with $1.35 trillion in credit card debt, which is a record in absolute terms but not when you adjust for inflation. The study also includes preliminary January data, showing a 2% decrease vs. December. Here are some key stats (all figures are adjusted for inflation): ●?2024 Was Better Than 2023: At $74 billion, the annual increase in credit card debt during 2024 was around 33% smaller than the increase in 2023. ●?Debt Is 9% Below the Peak: Total credit card debt at the end of 2024 was roughly $1.35 trillion on an inflation-adjusted basis, which is around 9% below the record high. ●?Falling Behind on Payments: Consumers charged-off on roughly $59 billion in delinquent credit card debt during 2024 ($15 billion more than 2023). ●?Early Q1 Results: Preliminary data for January 2025 shows a 2% decrease in credit card debt vs. December 2024. ●?Household Debt Has Some Breathing Room: The average household credit card balance was around $11,253 at the end of 2024 after adjusting for inflation.
