Knight-Wallace Fellowships for Journalists and the Livingston Awards
关于我们
Wallace House at the University of Michigan is committed to fostering excellence in journalism. We are home to programs that recognize, sustain and elevate the careers of journalists to address the challenges of journalism today, foster civic engagement and uphold the role of a free press in a democratic society. We believe in the fundamental mission of journalism to document, interpret, analyze and investigate the forces shaping society. Knight-Wallace Fellowships offer a broad range of accomplished journalists an academic year of study and collaborative learning at the University of Michigan. Through this fellowship, journalists who are eager for growth and deeply committed to the future of their profession, have the opportunity to deepen knowledge, develop new ideas and address challenges facing the journalism industry. The Livingston Awards honor journalists under the age of 35 for outstanding achievement in local, national and international reporting across all forms of journalism. The awards bolster the work of young reporters, create the next generation of journalism leaders and mentors, and advance civic engagement around powerful storytelling. Wallace House Presents brings journalists whose work is at the forefront of national conversations to our University community and the broader public. By moving the news consumption and discussions away from devices and distractions and into public spaces, Wallace House aims to foster civic engagement, open conversation and spark debate. In addition to being an organization, Wallace House is a place for community. A gift from legendary newsman Mike Wallace and his wife Mary, Wallace House is a place to gather for collaborative learning, gaining inspiration and fostering excellence in journalism.

Our 37th Graham Hovey Lecture with Mazin Sidahmed, which took place yesterday was truly inspiring! Thank you to Valeria Bertacco for her delightful welcome and to the University of Michigan for their support of Wallace House Center for Journalists. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event memorable.
Great event tonight at the Wallace House Center for Journalists at the University of Michigan, where Mazin Sidahmed delivered inspiring insights on the importance of local reporting and reporting for immigrants. Mazin created Documented to do this work in New York, to benefit the local communities, especially the immigrant communities. His presentation was part of the 37th Graham Hovey lecture, during I which I had the opportunity to welcome the 51st cohort of Knight-Wallace fellows: 18 journalists coming to the University of Michigan from all corners of the planet, to spend a year carrying out a journalism project, taking courses, plotting out a new career path, or planting new seeds to change the world of reporting and journalism. Propelling the celebration to new heights, Lynette Clemetson, Director of the Wallace House, offered the exciting announcement of a gift by the Song Foundation and the Joyce Foundation to launch the Great Lakes Local News initiative.

??? When you come to Michigan, you have to visit Detroit! Our day in Detroit was fantastic. We explored New Lab and Michigan Central Station, enjoyed an incredible guided tour with Detroit historian Jamon Jordan, and visited the headquarters of Hope for Flowers by Tracy Reese. We also stopped by the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the Detroit Institute of Art Museum. It was such a wonderful day spent with amazing people! ?? Thank you to Knight-Wallace alum Rochelle Riley for creating meaningful connections and curating a deeply thought-provoking and inspiring day. #michigan #detroit #knightwallacefellowship Hope For Flowers By Tracy Reese City of Detroit
